You are Lieren, Hero of the land and forger of the fledging kingdom that has risen from the ashes of the tyrannical kingdom of old, Valiant son of nothing, friend of the common folk, shaper of prosperity, bringer of plenty and the Golden eyed giant whose heralded a new dawn of benevolence and wise rule. And you are the Emperor of mankind's second son, the primarch of his second legion of transhuman warriors named astartes. Having turned your focus once more to building and innovating, you brought gifts from the ancient ship Kanzeon, and left her body with a deeper understanding of the nature of yourself and your creation.

Seeking to test the effectiveness of protective charm derived from the technology and arcane wards of the gestation pod that bore you to Shangrala's surface nearly nine years before, and so sought out an site tainted by the bitter winds of the empyrean. Upon the field of turtle's treachery, you found a sites suitable to gauge the power of your Null Denouncement Charms, and through gathering the energies present there, drew a warped spirit from the depths of the other realm into an area built between the borders of the two worlds.

In the boundary between the graves of the fallen and the garden of despair, you battled this new, terrible enemy beneath the gaze of two entities beyond the veil of comprehension. An avatar of life's great bounty, and an very incarnation of stagnancy and contagion. Utilizing your recently acquired psykerist techniques, you bested your devilish opponent before it's corroded blade could infect you with the unnatural plagues it barred upon its broken edge. Having thus banished the spiritual corruption and malevolent Qi from the Kang's lands, you swore an oath both to the captive blossom named Isha and the toad king Nurgle who kept her, swearing to one day free her from her tortuous imprisonment while swearing to see the garden of misery and twisted merriment burned until not even ash remained.

Recovering from the ordeal and hateful glare of the patriarch of all filth days later, you set about continuing your work in the material world, and began to heal the lands of men who once your foes. Beginning the marshes of the Xue, you drove out the raiders sent by the Vishnu Kings, and aided the lord Xue Liang in the uplifting of his backwater region to one day become a center of industry and wealth. As the giant's road carefully spread its roots into the bogs and mires of the borderland, you approached the sole surviving member of the Xue three with a humble request.

In exchange for revealing the hidden wealth of his lands, and ensuring it would become an industrial power house in the future, you asked that he would campaign for your dear and loyal Companion Jinhai's claim to the throne of the newly born kingdom rather than your own.

Leaving the swamps cast in the glow of electric lights, you then approached the ever prideful and honor bound Kang, who for the tragedy enacted upon your command, held you with great contempt and seething malice.

The Silver Lions of Kang, were content to commit extend suicide, preferring to the many enemies of the former Yan Kingdom alone rather than bow to the authority of a man who to their perception, was a deceitful and wretched villain.

However, your vast intellect and well honed cunning had allowed you to understand the one gift the egos of Kang would not allow them to take without swearing an Oath of loyalty. The healing of their criplled son and Heir, Kang Yongrui, the slayer of your departed friend small Chen.

Having thus returned the Xue and Kang to the peerage of the reborn kingdom's vassals, you journeyed once more to the dark pit where Kanzeon lay, taking as your companions the broken Yongrui and the crippled Luli, the loyal follower of the Journey who endured the worst cruelty of the Yan princes without losing her hope or faith.

Revealing to your companions the truth of Humanities past, and the nature of spirits and the corruptive powers they wield, you presented them to your friend born in eons long past, and lent your hand to rebuild the two's bodies in cybernetic flesh.
-

Yongrui's face was as white as a frozen corpse, his eyes bulged from his skulls, veins threatening to burst as he lay upon the lotus shaped operation table. You stood by his side, as Kanzeon puppeted the majority of the surgical instruments that carved through his ruined flesh and bones. His damages nerves must've been screaming beneath his skin.

But it was his choice to refuse anesthesia, and had demanded to remain conscious during the entirety of the grueling operation. Truly, he was a man whose stubbornness was without peer. Well, there was one thing within him that could hope to challenge his stubborn. Endurance. No man should have been able to endure the rigors of having his body taken apart and built back anew in metal and forgotten technology. Yet, the heir of the Kang endured and had even remained aware enough beneath the pain to question the nature of his treatment.

His grey streaked hair, soaked through with the sweat beading down his brow, was parted to allow his eyes the freedom to view his body being butchered so it may be mended and made anew. A smile had crept upon his lips as he watched replacement nerves be woven beneath the flesh that could be saved, and he grinned manically as his limbs, which could not be repaired, were instead replaced with cybernetic imitations.

However beneath the agony and relief of once more being made whole, their was a fear hidden away, tucked into a corner of his mind. Perhaps the man himself was unaware of it, but it could not escape your notice. It was understandable, and a rare logical breed of dread. For how could one's soul extend to lifeless metal?
Cont
>>
>>4854358

What else could this treatment seem than a selling of one's natural born essence? What else could the technology appear as besides abhorrent witchcraft.

But he would learn the distinction, and come to understand his new body. As would many others, when this gift could be shared with the world, and spread across all corners of the land. At least no one would be so foolish as to come to worship these cybernetic replacements, and certainly no man would be mad enough to voluntarily replace his own living flesh with wires and mechanical servos.

"I can't move these steel arms" Yongrui mumbled, half incoherent as his eyes fluttered and struggled to remain open

"That is because the foundation of your cybernetic alteration shall be applied last, your spinal column and nervous system in general is too damaged to interlink with the machines now fused to your frame" Kanzeon explained as you tried to ignore the sound of your personal radio clattering towards the edge of a table by its own vibrations.

"What does the lady in the machine mean? why can't I move my arms yet?" Yongrui asks, nearly intoxicated by his pain and the synthetic blood dripping into his veins to prevent him from fall unconscious due to blood loss, as per his own wishes.

"She means, like with Luli, we'll have to replace portions or perhaps the entirety of your spine so your body can adapt to its new limbs" You explain, wincing as you imagine the depth of agony such an operation would entail upon a waking mind. This man's idiocy and mulish nature was almost deserving of praise! Surely there had to be a limit to the Kang's conviction to never shy away from pain nor hardship! this was blatant madness at this point, but agreeing to these deranged terms was the only way to get Yongrui to lay upon the Lotus table to begin with!

He must be near his limit, he'll break soon and beg to be put under. It is commendable to withstand torture and abuse, but it is concerning for a man to come to decide of his own free will to bear pain beyond imaging simply out of a sense of honor!

Luli, had been wise. She listened when it was suggested she be made to slumber deeply and dreamlessly so she would not have to known the pain of her treatments. The stinging of artificial optic nerves being wired into her brain, the sensation of the remnants of her tongue being cut away and replaced alongside several discs of her spine, both of her legs and her mangled hands. She now slept, to awake as a woman reborn, with graceful limbs of the same metal that was the "flesh" and "bone" of Kanzeon's body, and her voice returned her, to see the world with renewed clarity and to greet it with her unbreakable faith once more.
cont
>>
>>4854361

But here Yongrui sat, twitching as you connected wire to bone, and fused skin to steel, connecting every viable nerve to the last limb before he'd have to be lifted to have his spine sliced apart to be remade as a collection of wires and miniscule computers connected the stem of his brain to convey his subconscious and convert it into movement as seamlessly as it would with the limbs he was born with.

However it is incredibly hard to focus on your work, whichthe merest twitch of the hand would ruin and further mangle the proud, and often times needlessly aggressive Kang Yongrui, while your radio buzzes and loudly chimes to grab your attention. Yin Lei has been calling since you've arrived! the damnable cacophony has grown to become quite an irritation, but despite your annoyance concerning its shrill cry, you know Yin Lei would not call unless it was vital to. Which means, he must have a serious concern that requires your attention. A truly troublesome matter, doubtlessly.

"If you wish, Yongrui, you can be administered pain killers and be rendered unconscious, before the final processes of your treatment" You say gently, emptying your mind of the stress slowly growing within its halls as you look down upon the dazed heir of the Kang, who merely looks to you with a cocksure grin.

"What's a little more pain, for one who has suffered as much as I?" he questions smugly, his eyes twinkling with renewed resolve. Mentally exhausted, you turn your eyes to the projection of Kanzeon's image standing across the operating table, and meet her eyes to wordlessly show her your disbelief towards Yongrui's stubborn insistence to feel every pinch, cut, slice, burn and stab of his treatment.

"I would advise the same. The border between fortitude and masochism is a thin one indeed, this isn't commendable, its foolish. You're being a fool, young man, an incredible fool, but a fool none the less. This feels more like butchery than treatment!" Kanzeon 's voice groans through the speaks, her pain and struggle to continue treating Yongrui despite the pain it inflicts clear in her voice "Must my hands be painted in not only your blood, but also your torment?"

"Fine...Lieren can perform this part of the treatment by himself, can he not? I am sorry for forcing you to do something you were uncomfortable with, I know I cannot be forgiven for such a slight, noble scion of ages past. But my honor has been sullied enough, I cannot bear further shame. I must endure this, so I can know my spirit still burns in my chest" Yongrui says, forcing himself to sit up to meet your eyes

"I abhor causing unnecessary pain, but I can also not turn another away from the path they have chosen, no matter how idiotic it is. If you refuse my advise, then I warn you, your mind will suffer worse than your body, Kang Yongrui" You austerely warn
cont
>>
>>4854362

"I was a dead man living before, I will withstand this slight pain, to prove to myself I am still whole" Yongrui says, his eyes wide as his smirk turns into a grimace of pain.

What kind of man views suffering as a means to prove himself? Such foolishness, such pointless bravado. However, he will not allow himself to be healed, unless he is awake through the treatment.

With a heavy sigh, you prepare yourself mentally, and void your mind.
cont"As you wish" You mechanically answer "But remember, we both warned you of what is to come. I am thankful you allowed Kanzeon to back away, and remove her hands from your self inflicted torture, but you are a fool to desire it to begin with"

"Only a coward hides away from pain. Though I need this treatment, it'd be a sign of cowardice to simply endure it as I sleep" Yongrui says, closing his eyes and clenching his jaws "Begin, I am ready...I shall tell my family you followed my wishes, as an honorable man would"

And I should tell them you're an idiot beyond measure, you think idly as you prepare the surgical implements. Kanzeon's flicker as she restrains a chuckle at your hidden thoughts
-

Wiping sweat from your brow, you sit outside of Luli and Kang Yongrui's recovery room, hearing one sing and the other whimper as Kanzeon scolds a grown man like he was boy who scrapped his knee in play. The imbecile of a Lion.

Pressing your thumb upon the screen, you at last answer Yin Lei's call.

"I am sorry my friend, but I was too busy to answer your message earlier. Forgive me for my lack of haste" You whisper into the radio, heavy breathing broadcasted to you in turn.

"Is this device working? I can never tell if it is. Yes...yes I see the light is glowing, but that could be" Yin Lei mutters quietly before gasping and sighing in relief in awe "Oh what a wonderous thing, it amazes me every time I see it used. Radio, our words broadcast across the world. Simply wonderous. It makes me as giddy as a boy in love"

"I assume you had a reason to call for me besides praising Kanzeon's gift" You reply, as Yin Lei sighs, as his voice slowly fills with frustration and barely restrained rage.

"Of course, I would not misuse such a treasure nor squander its potential for so petty a distraction" Yin Lei hisses, his tone darkening with every word spoken "Yes, I am sorry to interrupt your necessary labors, I mean no disrespect. But the Luo and Huang have escalated their respective interfacial conflicts, and through bonds of marriage and vows of friendship, their pointless wars are threatening to spill across their borders into the liberated lands! Already have their fractured families sent messengers, pleading for aid, calling upon alliances new and old, and seeking to pit our people against each other to decided which fool shall sit upon their seats like so many squabbling children!"
Cont
>>
>>4854365

"Both of those contemptible lineages should be put to the sword or noose! I am at my wits end and driven to the brink of madness dealing with these villainous cretins"

You sigh through your nose and bow your head.

You had expected something of this nature would occur. Three crises to be solved, and one would have to be the last to be dealt with.

"Lieren? Lieren?! Can you hear my voice! Did my message reach you across the ether?!" Yin Lei shouts, still assuming raising his voice will make the radio transmit it further, like the majority of who have been gifted them believe "THE LUO AND HUANG ARE INCITING FURTHER CONFLICT"

"Yes, yes I heard the entirety of what you spoke to me, my dear friend" You say, groaning under your breath as you press the flat of you hand against your brow "I am just, pausing to think"

"Oh, that is relieving to hear" Yin Lei says seriously "How shall we deal with these ruffians then?"

What do you tell the Black general, Lieren?
>"Block of their borders, I shall deal with this matter personally. Send the message across the broadcast stations, any who pledges their army to either of the infighting families shall be branded as a criminal"
>"Gather the armies beneath your banners, and end this childish affair. If any of member of the Luo or Huang are free of the sinfulness of their kin, they shall be give the lordships of their lands. And mind your zealous rage, my friend"
>"Summon Jinhai, pull him from Lady Gao's side and gather the armies beneath his banner. He shall solve the troubles afflicting the Luo or Huang, or else bring them to the capital in chains"
>"Here is what shall be done. A messenger, guarded by the most elite of our country's warriors, shall go to each fraction and present to them an ultimatum. They shall cease their infighting, and await a decision by council naming the true lord of their lands, or their families shall be stripped of all titles, prestige and face"

Poor poor Lieren. Just wait until he encounters the Mechanicum.

I get the feeling we're gonna have a long talk with Ferrus Manus about this subject in the future.

Send a messenger first to stop the conflict, while we go there to solve it.

Ferrus disapproved of his sons' obsession with cybernetic enhancement. He was going to curb their practices and strip the necrodermis from his hands, but died before he was able to.

Work with Kazeon during our stay here (while Luli and Yongrui heal) for create gifts for our companions and friends. Useful gifts and worthy for their new offices (Aruma, Jinhai, Yin Lei, Yongrui could be a weapon or armor, Guozhi a psyker device and so on)

Beside this talk with Kazeon about future plans for when works here in the mountain will begin, and what could be the best way for achieve this.
It could be also good to create an heaven for the cripples as well scholars here near the mountain. It could be called Sorcerer Fall. A peaceful place for heal them, and a place of study and wisdom. With the foul darkness destroyed the mountain seems a small eden of peace, perfect for a new role in this new age.

When we return, send an edict to the capital. While Jinhai resolves the conflict of the Huang and Luo houses, an army rally by us will proceed to begin the work for destroy all the bandits, raiders, wicked men, criminals and large packs of predators from the lands of the kingdom (except the Gao that are already secure). This will be organised as a military campaign like against another state. And an offer to the noble houses of the Kingdom will be given for partecipate in this task. Afterall they too have grudges against such criminals. Soon our people will be far more safe than before. Any spotting of magical beast or evil spirit or sorceful equipment needs to be immediatly reported to us, if they are found by our military.

This new version just makes Chaos look like inept fuckheads that need to be handheld through their biggest gambit in existence by the sheer fucking stupidity of a human woman, a Perpetual no less, who is one of the few people who should know better. It makes the Dark Gods look like less of a threat, which clashes with GW's hard-on for making Chaos the MOST POWAHFUL VILLAINS EVAH!

Basically, the bitch failed to make space marines work because they kept getting mutated without an cheatsheet to compare how it should be, so she blamed her failures on Big E and tried to destroy all the work in a tantrum.
The Emperor has really shit taste with woman scientists, doesn't he?

Calling the vote now.

"Summon Jinhai, pull him from Lady Gao's side and gather the armies beneath his banner. He shall solve the troubles afflicting the Luo or Huang, or else bring them to the capital in chains":11

"Block of their borders, I shall deal with this matter personally. Send the message across the broadcast stations, any who pledges their army to either of the infighting families shall be branded as a criminal": 4

"Here is what shall be done. A messenger, guarded by the most elite of our country's warriors, shall go to each fraction and present to them an ultimatum. They shall cease their infighting, and await a decision by council naming the true lord of their lands, or their families shall be stripped of all titles, prestige and face": 5

Work with Kazeon during our stay here (while Luli and Yongrui heal) for create gifts for our companions and friends. Useful gifts and worthy for their new offices:1

When we return, send an edict to the capital. While Jinhai resolves the conflict of the Huang and Luo houses, an army rally by us will proceed to begin the work for destroy all the bandits, raiders, wicked men, criminals and large packs of predators from the lands of the kingdom:1

Total votes: 15

So commanding Jinhai to bring the Luo and Huang families to a heel wins, presenting the Son of the sea a chance to win prestige and build a reputation independent from Lieren.

Yeah turns out having your spine, most of your internal organs, limbs and nervous system renovated is not the most pleasant of experiences.
>>
Suddenly, a realization strikes you. Merely influencing the outcome of the vote through strong arming and calling upon the favor of powerful and prestigious men, may not be enough to keep the crown from coming to rest upon your brow. Jinhai's reputation and all of the glory he has won, every deed great and small has been accomplished beneath your banner, and have thus only served to further heighten and bolster the legend of your name, increasing your prestige and face more than his own. The people simply will not vote for a king who is seen as little more than the servant of a better man.

They do not know Jinhai personally, and have not seen his wisdom and at times seemingly boundless intellect and array of skills. No, Jinhai must separate his name from your own and swim up the river of hardship beneath no banner besides his own, to show to the populace the true magnificence of his character and mind. The son of the sea must gather glory, respect, and prestige to have a hope to defeat the myth of Lieren in his unknowing bid for the throne. Even the manipulations and preparations you've already set into motion will falter and fail if the people do not truly believe Jinhai is capable and deserving of such a vaunted position.

And words can only achieve so much. His independent deeds must be observed and judged by the kingdom at large, his actions must be enshrined in their minds and recorded. His valor noted, his honor spoken off and his potential the subject rumor and gossip!

Nearly lashing your arm outwards out of habit alone, you lean against the wall and flatten your back against it. The thrumming of the energy coursing through Kanzeon's glass and wire veins prickles against your shoulders as you find the proper words and courteous terminology to use in the command to be soon given.

And with a sigh, you resume the dialogue between yourself and the fuming Black general.

"Summon Jinhai!" You growl sternly, mimicking Yin Lei's own fury to give the man a sense of vindication towards his own feelings "Pull him from Gao Daiyu's side and gather the armies beneath his banner"

"Hrrrrm, yes, a shrewd choice. Young Jinhai has proven himself a most able commander and tactician despite his humble origins. He is, after all, one of the brightest of my personal pupils" Yin Lei says, his tone one of cold calculation and observation "Such an assignment shall surely remind him of his duty to the land and people, after a season of youthful love"

So you were not alone in noticing Jinhai and Daiyu's burgeoning romance, though even the prospective couple themselves have remained blind to their mutual attraction for several seasons. Though, perhaps their feelings were more obvious to those looking upon them, than they were for themselves. The heart is after all, a strange and fickle thing.

Yin Lei sighs and clacks his teeth. You can hear bird song carried through his radio's microphone.
Cont
>>
"Though I do not meant to imply he had forsaken his responsibilities. But a general of his ability must remember the harsh realities of life and the wars that steal it away" The Black general muses sorrowfully, no doubt seeing a younger reflection of himself in Jinhai's optimistic eyes "What orders shall be given to the youngest king of war, my honored leader and valued friend?"

"Ever the idealist, despite the tragedies of a life lived upon the field of war. My friend, tell Jinhai he is to bring the warring families to peace" You say, acting out the slow fading of anger to serene calm as you speak, to hide your anticipation of your friends own ascension to veneration within the collective consciousness of the realm "By any means necessary. He shall solve the troubles surrounding the Luo and Huang, or else bring them to the capital in chains!"

Yin Lei remains silent for time, you can hear his footsteps upon a stone path, soon joined by the gentle bubbling of an unhindered stream. A breeze hisses through the radio's speaker, the rustling of dried tree branches and overgrown grasses acompanying it.

"Where they shall be given a just trial, and have their virtue or lack of it determined and scrutinized. Yes, this is a far more thought out course of action than I would have taken alone. My rage had began to threaten to break my skull and slip through the cracks" Yin Lei say sighing again as he pauses, perhaps to admire natures beauty "I shall see that your command is given to Young Jinhai, even if it will draw the ire of his paramour"

You snort to keep from laughing out loud.

"You have my thanks, and I once again must offer my apologies for not answering your call sooner" You say, smiling now as you adjust your posture and step away from the wall.

"There is no need to. You are a industrious man, and your expertise and wisdom is best spread far and wide, rather than confined to one locale" Yin Lei chuckles "Prosperity springs up wherever you wander, and it is our duty as men of the Journey to make as much of the world prosperous as possible. Do not fear that your benevolence is held with disdain, Lieren, all understand your responsibility to the lands and people sends you on countless journeys across distant wilds and remote locales. After all, a man possessed of as many talents as yourself, is almost obligated to devoting his time to the austere duty of bettering the world"

"You words bring me much comfort, but I was never deluded into believing men view my generosity with contempt. I merely wished to apologize for making you wait for so long" You say with a gentle laugh "You are a true and loyal friend, Yin Lei, may the coming days be brighter than those of the past"

"May the new dawn shine with unmatched brilliance and majesty. We shall meet again, my friend. But for now, I must beg my leave" Yin Lei say, a hint of warmth creeping into his otherwise quietly stern tone.

"It shall be" You reply with a reflexive nod.
cont
>>
>>4856506

"That it shall" Yin Lei says, as the transmitting light upon the radio flickers out, and a great weight falls from your shoulder now that the latest crisis benighting the nation has almost certainly been alleviated if not outright avoided.

Now you have the commodity of time. Enough to commit to leisure and perform other, less vital work. Perhaps, you may be at last able to visit Small Chen's family and mourn at his grave. Perhaps, you can begin the construction of schools and other centers of learning in the company of your students. Perhaps you can return to working upon the giant's road or back to Nothing to aid in the day to day affairs there.

There is so much to be done, deeds both great and small to be accomplished.

But what shall you do now, Lieren?

It was incredibly Rad, since Lieren had after the discussion prior to the battle concerning the test's purpose and if it was pointless, abandoned his Guandao in a show of respect for Ferrus, who had chosen to bare metal knuckle brawl.

The twins brought weapons, If I recall correctly.

They just didn't expect Lieren to go full ultrapragmatist like he did against Huli Jing, and react to being tossed from the ice float that was the arena by diving and punching holes through it to try and drag the twins into the frigid waters

We solve the immediate problem so our two friends are A-OK, then return to our students whom we miss dearly, then work with Guozhi to develop the Psykerist sect to ensure no rogue Psykers get picked off by demons and turned to evil.

After all this, I think it would be safe to work on updating the giant's road, or better yet leaving the direction to someone else? Give someone a chance for a change?

While we're doing these things time for a personal pledge, we must not do more to sway the vote for if discovered and there's a good chance we will be we do not want him doubting himself or feeling as a pawn. We need this to feel genuine not just for his sake and the people's but also our own... For it would make a poor tale for us to have seemingly put a puppet on the throne

Fucking hell. I missed something again.
I thought to use some of the colors used by their South Yin cousins and that was it. South Yin have grey and white.

Didn t remember north had those colors. Maybe i will fix it later.

Thanks anyway.
>>
>>4856728
I just realized anotger problem, this tume with the map, but it's not so bad.
>>4856467
The North Yin are the hard Yan loyalist and said to be far from the rebellion, yet the are in the Gao lands, and the Southern are Lei's lands, and he served at Gao's court, yet their lands are near the Luo and Huang, the other side of the lake of the Yan lands.
I will check the archives to see if we accidentatly switched north and south at some point.
>>
>>4856751
Oh god not again
>>
>>4856759
It's not so bad, we can just switch their locations and rotate the map sideways.
Or the Yan can define north as the direction of the capital instead of the magnetic pole, like how the calendar resets each new dynasty, and so it's just another problem Lieren will have to fix through his new education project.
And than in the future everyone will be confused why the northern Yin's lands are in the south, and the southern in the north, or why the names switched at some point during history.
>>
>>4856770
I think i could fix this by putting the south Yin near the Lai and the north Yin north of Yan.
>>
>>4856777
That works, there's space near the Gao's side of that lake between Xue and Lai.
Maybe put the North Yin near that corridor to the Kang plains? You could move the Huang to their old location too.
>>
>>4856782
Yeah I was considering there.
You mean even the Huang are in a wrong position ???
>>
>>4856796
No, there nothig wrong with the Huang.
It's just that they are in a strategic position that would be perfect for the right hand man of the Yan, the last line of defense against the Shuni, and right in place to come and quickly break any siege should an army manage to reach the Yan capital, so I though that it's a good place to put the North Yin. And if you are going to move them out of there, might as well put them where the Southern Yin are in the map right now, since it's a good place to put a clan anyway.
>>
>>4856799
I suppose it can work like that then. Cool
>>
>>4856799
Actually, the Huang lands are right now even in a position of last line of defebse against the Vishnu too, since that's tge only way to reach the Yan capital unless they go through the bone devoring forest, or try to conquer all of Gao's lands.
Maybe that's why that army that were the ancestors of our friends and students went that, they gambled that they could surivive the forest and catch the Yan unpreparex and undefended.
And like I said, should the Gao rebel, ortheir lands get conquered, they are in a position to break any siege against tge capital, and being away from the frontlines mean they would be able to contiounasly recruit and train large armies, and eventually push back.

Also, a sidenote. We should probably post some radio-equipped sentries and/or scouts along the Vishnu border. Just because a wall is getting built there doesn't mean early warning on Vishnu activity isn't needed.

Here's the black and white template for the banners. I'm going to have to make another one for the Vishnu, Shuni and the Basque when we get to them, so everyone isn't just using chinese flags.

The talk about ferrus manus reminds me of people saying we'd get along with fulgrim early into the quest. Seems like a fun trinity, the mind(ferrus), body(fulgrim), and soul(lieren)

Lieren would initially really get along with Fulgrim because he would see uniting the planet without actually fighting as being the greatest thing ever. That and while the group wouldn't share the same sentiments they would still likely respect one another even if Fulgrim thinks he could have done things better or that Ferrus would think that Lieren speaks even more poetically than Fulgrim.

Calling the vote now. Sorry for the wait.

First, ensure Luli and Yongrui are recovery well and adapting to their mended bodies, before returning them to the surface and revealing their healing to the world.: 18

Update the giant's road to include railways and electric lights along its entirety, creating a system of stations and rest stops alongside its most dangerous sections: 9

Track down Guozhi, and accept leadership of the Psykerist sect, and give it a name and set about making it an institution of training men and women who may otherwise fall to the lure of darker arts.:13

Return to your students, both beastly and not and allow them to join you in the construction of your first official school of philosophy and martial arts. Built near to Small Chen's home, so you may mourn and build a memorial to him and all others who gave their lives for the freedom the lands now enjoy: 19

write curricula for later teaching use while waiting for the recoveries of Luli and Yongrui.: 1

While Jinhai resolves the conflict of the Huang and Luo houses, an army rally by us will proceed to begin the work for destroy all the bandits, raiders, wicked men, criminals and large packs of predators from the lands of the kingdom: 1

promise to not do more to sway the vote for if discovered and there's a good chance we will be we do not want him doubting himself or feeling as a pawn: 1

Total votes:22

So Lieren will stay to observe Luli and Yongrui's recovery and ensure there are no complications, before escorting them back to society and revealing their healing.

Then return to his students and allow them to join him in the construction of his first officiall school of Philosophy and martial arts, built near Small chen's home and including a memorial to him and all others who gave their lives for others freedom.

And then he will seek out guozhi and accept leadership of his Cultivator/ psykerist sect and set about making it an institution of training men and women who may other wise fall to the lure of pacts most dark and vile.

However the matter that most demands your concern and direct attention at the moment, is the recovery period after Luli and Kang Yongrui's surgery. While you do trust Kanzeon to provide both with the finest care and unparalleled comfort while they adjust to their cybernetic prosthetics and healed bodies, it is very hard to claim a similar confidence that Yongrui will not continue to be stubborn and wound himself through unnecessary exertion. Or, perhaps, attempt to leave the caverns without your guidance and become hopelessly lost in the network of tunnels and pits.|

And one with a heart as loyal and stalwart as Luli's own, deserves your company. It would be a bold faced lie to claim you have not longed to hear her speak properly, as it would be a symbolic last defeat of the Yan kings and their foul legacy. For what better an execution for tyrants, than showing the world the failure of their way of life in the form of a victim who would not bow and allow herself to be broken by their unrelenting cruelty.

Smiling at the thought alone, you turn to the hidden door leading to Luli's room within Kanzeon, and gently press the tip of your finger upon the curved metal wall. Tracing a symbol along its surface, the door opens, breaking apart into liquid metal and curling vines that retreat back into the walls surrounding them as you step forward.

And, a most wonderous and inspiring site greets your eyes. Luli stands before a mirror set in the wall, her hand placed against her throat. Hours prior, she was unable to stand unassisted or move on her own power. Now there she stands, upon silver legs, lined with embellishments of gold hued metal in the shape of lotus flowers blossoming along springs. Her hands, one twisted, mangled things, are now works of art. Golden hued and with mock nails shaped out of a synthetic mutton fat jade. The mechanics of her new limbs are soundless, and move as seamlessly as living flesh.

Her hair, flows down her uncovered back. As black as a polished river stone, weathered by the gentle caress of flowing water over the centuries. Through the strands, flickering green lights glow through, revealing the docking ports and fastening bolts holding the cybernetic supports until her spine integrates completely with them. The cybernetics, are made of a metal of a similar composition to Kanzeon's own body. And it to, is a thing of beauty.

Standing silently, you play the part of the quiet audience as she sings a wordless song, testing the limits of her voice after months of disuse.

"Every life is a work of art, and deserves to be treated as such" Kanzeon says, clearly pleased by your unspoken praise of her work "I was born to care for humanity, after all. I would be denying my own nature if I did not the give their care the utmost priority. And I can forgiven for needing an outlet for my creative impulses after such isolation, can I not?"
cont
>>
>>4858514

"Oh, her prosthetics are a functional work of art, though I know you intended them to be such" You answer, alerting Luli to your presence at last.

"When pragmatic construction is unnecessary, art can be created. That is what I was taught to understand, eons ago" Kanzeon says, trying to hide her emotions through a cold exterior, but her joy would be obvious to all who'd hear her words. In fact its probably intentional, knowing her vast intellect.

"Quiet you" Kanzeon snaps as you chuckle, as Luli turns to face you and bows, placing her hands upon her knees. The thin yet sturdy cloth of woven rubbers that covers her body clings to her form as she does so.

A golden fire shines in the still reddened socket of her missing eyes, pale vat grown flesh covering her once healing scars as a look of flustered embarrassment flashes across her pale features.

Flowing motes of light drip along the length of her metallic legs and arms, shaping into crawling, flowering vines and fluttering birds feathered in azure and plum as she greets you with all the humbleness of an eager servant.

"Master Lieren! My savior! Light of my life. Forgive this humble student for not greeting you at your approach, this meek girl before you had become distracted by the gifts given to her. My voice! My voice" She says, becoming distracted as she speaks, tears falling from her sole organic eye as she dances her golden fingers across her throat "Can you hear it? So gentle, and soft though formed by a tongue of metal and.."

"Chemically treated rubber, along with more esoteric materials" Kanzeon answers sweetly, as if speaking towards her own daughter "And am, in a way a mother, am I not? as a colony ship...Fine, Luli, you may call me mother as well. If I allow the demolitions obsessed Dandan to do so, a gentle hearted girl like you is more than welcome to"

Kanzeon pauses, realizing she is soon to fall victim to the poetic nature of the Yan tongue. You smirk, Luli tilts her head curiously, her golden cybernetic eye moving independently of the other, searching for and cataloguing every minute detail of the room and you her guest.

"Refer to me with such terminology" She answers quietly.

"I am ever grateful and indebted to both of you, for returning my voice and life to me properly. I can state in words my gratitude. A thousand years of service would be inefficient to show it. All I may do, is live the life gifted to me anew" Luli says so joyously her voice squeaks. She keeps touching her neck, as if amazed to be able to feel the vibrations of her own melodic voice once more.

"That is the greatest revenge you may have against your late tormenter. And I do not need your thanks and praises, merely seeing you happy is reward enough for my toil" You reply, stepping closer to her. Her face flushes a deeper shade of red, and she turns away, feeling unworthy of your attention.
cont
>>
>>4858517

"A sign of your boundless generosity. Truly, no man may possess a heart as gentle and kind as your own, Master Lieren" Luli whispers, testing her new legs with a shifting step back towards her bed

"and I've prayed that the youngest prince of the Yan, may find peace in the next life. I desire no retribution in my name, truthfully"

"Though he deserve nothing worse than the darkest pit of hell" Kanzeon hisses, a wind whipping through her ventilation system as the lights within the room darken and glow red for a splinter of a second, before return to a soothing, gentle shade of green once more.

"Then you have a gentler heart than my own" You admit, seeing for a moment Luli in the state when the two of you met in the twisted, glass covered garden "But let us turn away from such grim matters. I've come to see how you're adjusting to your surgery, though it is a treasured sigh to see you in such high spirits once again"

Luli frowns, and lifts her golden hands to her eyes. Slowly, she bends each of her ten fingers, first forward then back. Her lips part, as she test the dexterity of her new digits. A smile ponderously curls across her lips, revealing her newly regrown teeth as she tilts her head, and rotates her wrists. They unnaturally turn in a full rotation. Her individual fingers separate by their joints and extend outwards, before returning to their normal length.

She gently stamps her feet upon the ground, bouncing upon them in an almost childish manner. She then grins brightly and turns to face you, her cybernetic eye brilliantly reflecting her joy in its light. It brings to mind the killing light of the six fanged spear. Now that is a humorous thought, a deadly weapon hidden inside an eye. Humorous, but ridiculous.

Luli notices your bemused smirk, and turns away from your gaze once more.

"I apologize. I must seem utterly childish in my treatment of these gifted treasures" She says meekly, brushing a hand through her hair, preening it nervously as she pulls it into a more properly feminine style. One that would not be out of place of the highest courts.

"But...I cannot repress my glee. It springs from me like an ever flowing spring, it clouds my mind like summer's haze. It is simply...it is all simply too much...too good for a girl as simple and talentless as myself" She mutters, her voice cracking as she tries to shrink and hide away.

You do not allow her to, and gently brush the back of your hand across her cheek. She startles, freezing in place as you look down at her with a gentle, understanding smile.
cont
>>
>>4858519

"There is no requirement of talent, or standing to be allowed to walk, speak or touch. Even so, while you may not realize it yourself, you are are exceptional in a way few are. Your spirit is a light that cannot be dimmed nor snuffed out. An ever burning candle against the night. Your hope, your unshakeable faith will become a subject of praise, your story one to inspire generations. Luli, humble Luli, loyal Luli. You are deserving of these gifts, and my regard" You coo into her ear as her face and nape of her neck become as brightly red as the setting sun itself.

Chuckling, you back away as the young woman stutters and mutters have spoken thanks and tries to accept your praises.

"Be happy, be joyous, for you are the very incarnation of this nation's new dawn. Sing merrily, laugh heartily. And never forget, that you are Luli, and your life is as valuable as any other. And know I am glad to have made the acquaintance of a woman as brave as you" You say, clapping your hands together as you back away, lowering your posture so as to appear shorter and less intimidating.

"Thank you, for your kind words" Luli mutters, covering her mouth as she falls to her bed, righting her posture after a moment before setting her hands upon her metallic lap "Is there anything I need to do, to show the progress of my recovery"

"What a dangerous Casanova you'd be" Kanzeon chuckles, in your mind alone "The girl is so enamored with you, it's almost frightening"

I am well aware of her infatuation, you answer in your thoughts, as you rap your knuckles on your chin.

Waving an open hand to Luli, you smile radiantly and laugh.

"Ahhh, no, we'll run tests for you and Kang Yongrui once both of you have rested and recovered from the ardor of surgery" You say merrily, before pursing your lips and with a softer chuckle add "Though I would be honored if you would share you song with our Host Kanzeon, your fellow patient Yongrui, and myself. It was a most beautiful melody after all"

"If you desire to hear my voice, than I shall comply and sing freely of the feelings I cannot put into words" She proclaims sweetly, placing a hand upon her breast and lifting her head proudly, her cheeks still flushed a warm shade of pink.

It is a wordless song, as gentle as the sun's caress, as soothing as the wind's embrace, as cleansing as an autumn rain. It is a heavenly music, one that seems almost alien to the cruel world of the living. So potent is Luli's gratitude, that the mere expression of it causes the winds of the empyrean realm to shift and calm. Like a storm fading to a breeze, like scalding water cooling to warmth.

It tells of a sense of learning, of a sense of peace. A serene love that cannot be described, of adoration unspoken, of sorrow forgotten. She sings for hours, and does not stop when you leave her company. You meet her eyes one last time as you leave her room, and in them...

>>4858521

In them you see a reflection of that caged matron of Life, Isha. A feel a renewed urge to protect Luli and her gentle smile.

Yongrui, is in a worse state than Luli. As he still refuses to administration of pain killers, and so lays curled upon the sheets of his bed.

His cybernetic enhancements are less adorned and decorated than Luli's. They're a dull grey metal, darkened and entirely pragmatic in design. While Luli's limbs were made to be somewhat feminine and fashionable. Yongrui's have been designed for a warrior's use, and have no embellishments upon them.

He's also refused all but the necessary skin and muscle grafts, and remains covered in the scars given to him by the Lai riders and the enraged guards and brothers of the panthers.

He raises his head weakly as you approach, drooling as he wheezes and huffs, struggling to keep the tears welling in his eyes from falling. He is wracked with agony, yet is looks proud that he is.

"Greetings Yongrui. I see you are recovering well" You say smugly as you kneel by his bed side "Are you feeling well? Are you so overjoyed to see me that you are brought to tears at the mere sight of me? Have you come to find me beloved in your heart"

"Wipe that damnable smirk from your face, you devious devil" Yongrui hisses "Do not make mockery of my plight"

"I cannot help but to, considering it entirely of your own design. But I apologize for my rudeness. Can you stand?" You ask, still grinning mockingly as Yongrui rises to a seated position, his eyes flaring with renewed pain

"Yes, but I do not wish to" He huffs, puffing his cheeks out as he raises his arms before himself and smiles "Despite your impudent behavior and the agony afflicted upon me, I remain overjoyed. I have been renewed! And it is thanks to you, the man who holds the honor of bearing the weight of my purest contempt"

"Must be humbling" You quip, as Yongrui snarls

"Have you come to antagonize me, or must I endure more pain to show I'm healed?" Yongrui asks angrily as you rise to your feet

"While both choices presented are tempting I must choose a third, for it is the truth. I have come, to tell you, you and Luli shall remain here for a few days more, perhaps even for a few weeks to recover and adjust to your prosthetics" You answers simply, unable to resist teasing the prideful fool a little more.

He throws a punch, which you catch with ease and do not acknowledge, as he fear fills his eyes as you tighten your grip and hold the servos and other mechanisms of his cybernetic arm in place.

"During this period" You say dully as lock gazes with him "The two of you shall perform numerous tests, so I may be confident you have been healed. You will be under observation and intense scrutiny. And I would remind you to not antagonize men who can as easily remove the limbs as he has given them to you"

"I will keep that in mind" Yongrui says, his voice ringing hollow with linger terror as you release your grip,

and he tests his arm to ensure you haven't broken it

"Tch, truly a troublesome combination, a mischievous, impudent character and the strength to deny any punishment that comes your way"

You roll your eyes and sigh.

"Is the concept of gratitude foreign to your people, or do you merely suffer some kind of personality disorder?" Kanzeon asks "Perhaps the portion of your brain responsible for the fear response is vestigial in the Kang family"

"We are warriors both fearless and peerless" Yongrui says, showing gratitude towards Kanzeon, but not yourself. Because he is not knowledgeable enough to see the insult in her words.

"You are truly a most headstrong individual. But perhaps I cannot see the logic in attempting to strike a man who can shrug off a direct, and saturated artillery bombardment" Kanzeon says coldly. And somehow, Yongrui still cannot see he is being insulted.

The sooner you can leave his company, the better. Though he is a virtuous soul, being the attention of his ire is rather tiresome.
-

Luli and Yongrui's recover period is far shorter than expected, and within the span of two weeks, you are confident in release them to the world at large. The prideful Yongrui, had kept from drawing your ire for the entirety of the period, though his tongue is as sharp as ever. Though, Luli bested him in numerous debates concerning your benevolence and the lessons of the Journey. And due to the heir of the Kang's honorable nature, he was unable to reply to her scathing remarks concerning his ungratefulness. The lion was cowed by the girl, there's a song waiting to be written there.

It was in these debates, and in his interactions with Kanzeon, that Yongrui revealed his gentler, more respective side. And Kanzeon showed her colder nature, as she, like Luli, saw Yongrui's ungracious manner as the height of rudeness, though she understood his reasons.

When the time came to leave, you led them from the caverns, and offered the Aiguo's mare, who you learned was named Fair Jiao, to Luli to ride. Yongrui refused to be found a mount, wishing to walk the entirety of the trek through the bone devouring forest and to Dai castle.

Where he would then be escorted back to his family's land, while you went about other business. Thankfully, he remained silent, while Luli blessed the journey with her song, which Kanzeon attempted to give Lyrics through the radio. But a song writer she was not, to put it in the kindest way.

"UNCLE UNCLE!" Avinash, Ananya, and the other two hundred eighty three of the tiger children greet you at the gate of Dai castle, alongside many more stock human students than you remember being here before.

Yongrui pales at the sight of them, and begins to hyperventilate at the sight of what must seem like a legion of monsters to his eyes.

Luli, however, looks upon them with awe and wonder.

"My beloved students! I have been away for far too long. Forgive this foolish uncle for his absence, for he had many duties to fulfill. My, my how you all have grown! Soon you'll stand as tall as myself!" You laugh gregariously as you slide from your steeds saddle, and stand before the gathered crowd, who kneel before you and cup their hands in greeting.

"I have not faltered in my training! either for my body, mind, or soul! Grandfather turtle has taught us how to write" Avinash boasts, as he rises to his feet, Ananya remains kneeling as she looks up to you

"And his daughters have give me many pretty dresses to wear, and have helped me groom my fur!" She says cheerfully "The Dai family are such generous folk, I cannot see why visitors treat them so coldly"

Yongrui bows his head, a dark expression upon his face.

"Oh have you? I will have to see how your clear your penmanship is. And have they? That is most generous of them" You say happily, searching through satchel for a gift for Ananya.

The two eldest of the Tiger children stare at Yongrui and Luli curiously. Their stare must unsettle Yongrui, as he moves to walk around the crowd, his face as pale as a corpse as he does so.

"Uncle who is that woman? Why does she have golden hands and silver legs? Is she your sister? One of her eyes glows as your own!" Avinash questions curiously, tugging on his dirtied robes as he asks you many questions. Luli looks away embarrassed, too shy to speak to the throne of children and older students.

"She's beautiful. I wish I could be as pretty" Ananya coos, as you click your tongue in a way that you've trained her and her fellow students to react to by holding out their hands.

"Well, you will be in your own way, my dear student. Here, a gift from a friend. To replace the teeth you lost trying to free yourself and the younger children from the cage that held you" You say sweetly, as you hand her a parcel of of cloth bound in twine and covered in wax.

"A gift?" She asks, suddenly shocked, as Avinash looks towards her with jealousy. As do most of the other students, some of them grown men.

"Oh don't worry, I have gifts for all of you. But Ananya needs hers the most" You explain, ruffling the fur upon Avinash's head. He reacts like a cat would, and leans into your hand.

"Besides, I shall not be leaving you again for sometime, in fact, I need all of your help for a project of mine. I am going to building a home for you, a sanctuary, a place of learning" You say, moving a finger back and forth like a ticking metronome.

And like that you are mobbed by dozens of crying, feline children.

But, you look over them, to witness Ananya unveil her gift.

Two false fangs, carved of steel and with Null Denouncement charms carved along their surface. To replace the two she lost in trying to free herself from the puppets of the puppet master. You smile, as you watch joy fill her eyes.

"Uncle! I've missed you so much"
"Will the pretty lady be coming to"
"Where have you been! You smell like home"
"Don't leave us again"
"Can I get gold arms to! That's my gift right? right?!"
"I fought a century tortoise and won! Uncle, Uncle, aren't you proud!"
"I..I made poetry, will you look at it? Uncle! Uncle"
"I've been helping in their kitchen! I can make soup, and not burn my hands!"
"I'll build the san..sanplace myself! Look how strong I am"
"No! don't try to pick up that rock, Sandip! you idiot"
"Uncle! Uncle can I have candy? Old man Dai says it's bad for my teeth, but he's stupid!"

Avinash stands, forcing himself to remain stalwart and "adult" though you can see how much he desires to join the mob. He hears Ananya's cries, and whips his head around, worry filling his eyes. His tail's fur puffs out, as he fears she's been hurt by something or someone. But his expression softens, and his snarl vanishes, when he sees her hugging her gift close to her chest.

And, you notice, in his motions and mannerisms. Signs of attraction, of love not understood. A boy's first crush. Yes, it makes sense with how close the two have become. Ananya's bold nature, would also be considered attractive in Vishnu Culture. It would seem, the boy who had once closed his heart off to the world and masked his fear with a confrontational temper, has somewhat healed from the tragedy of his shared past and the shame of his origin.

How wonderful.

"You look like their father, its such a sweet sight" Luli says at last "I've heard so much of them, but I never thought they'd be so courteous and respectful. What lovely children they are!"

And like that, the swarm leaves your side, and rushes to her.

"She can talk! She can talk!"
"Are you Uncle Lieren's sister? You smell like him!"
"Why do you have silver legs? Are you different like us?"
"Such a soft voice, reminds me of me....mmrr, mother..."
"Fire in her eye! Fire in her eyes! Are you strong?! are you strong?!"
"Scars! are you a warrior? I thought the Yan didn't let their women fight!"
"Can I pet your horse"
"Hey, Hey! Look how strong I am! I can lift this rock up"
"Sandip stop being foolish!"
"Do you like fish? I like fish! Wanna get some fish"
"Are you Uncle's mate...ur, wife?"
"Why was that other man so pale? Was he sick"
"Parth greets you! Third rate practioner of the fog panther style"

"So, teacher, we shall have a proper school soon" A man with a shaven head asks, laughing as he watches the antics of the tiger children "Have you a location in mind? We're all honored to be asked for our assistance, but the children...I am worried they may tire if the journey is long"

"Ah, greetings, My I ask for you name, my student? I do not recall making your acquittance before" You say, greeting the man with clasped hands
cont
>>
>>4858530

"This one is named Wen, and he humbly greets his teacher" The man says, returning the gesture "Forgive my bold approach, but I must know. For my concern for my fellow students is so greatly felt, that the mere thought of them going through hardship pains my heart"

You place a hand on the man's shoulder and smile.

"and I am named Lieren, and your worry is appreciated, but unneeded, for the location I intend to build my school is in the former Gao region" You answer, pointing towards the distant, fog hidden horizon "Along the mountain ranges that are ruled by the Tao family, near my home of Nothing. In a quiet farming village that keeps Ox, in a lonesome valley, untouched by war"

"Sounds like the perfect place to raise these children into fine men and women" Wen says with a bow "I shall begin packing their belongings...will they be allowed to say goodbye to our most generous hosts? or must we leave with haste, master Lieren"

You turn your glance to the two hundred and eighty five tiger children, most of which are gathered around Luli, bombarding her with questions or trying to pet her steed without hurting it.

The older ones, gather around Ananya, giving Avinash a wide distance as he marvels at her replacement fangs and bares his own to compare them.

"Give them as much time as they need" You answer in soft tone, patting Wen on his shoulder once again "And, tell them, they will be able to speak with Lord Dai and his family through their radio, if they ever wish to"

"R...radio?" Wen asks.

You chuckle, and begin to explain to him the concept of radios to the baffled practitioner of the Journey
-
Old Chen sat far from his village, upon the hill where his eldest and only son was buried. He snorted, wiping his greying beard with one hand, as he looked over the flowers the giant had sent with his son's body as seedlings. Vibrant, exotic, and with petals of colors he's never seen before. It was, a thing of saddening beauty.

Some commotion was going through the village, but Old Chen didn't care. He cared little about things, recently. He knew his son followed the Journey, but he did not understand it. How can death not be reviled? How could he so easily give his life for a stranger. It didn't make sense to the old farmer, who sat before his son's grave in the shadow of the mountain that stood before his village.

Sucking on his teeth, he wondered on his son's travels with the Giant Lieren. He had been told, he had been a great hero. A warrior who faced the worst of the war and took part in missions that no other man could complete. That he was valiant, virtuous, and brave. But what good did such praise do for a dead man?

Old chen snorted, whiping his beard again as visions of Small Chen in his youth danced in his mind. His smile as broad as his shoulders, his love for their oxen, his first love. His wedding day. When he saved the herd from a wild fire.
Cont
>>
>>4858531

Thousands of memories, thousands of stories that seemed more important than hearing how he died a hero, died for something bigger than himself. What use was heroics, if Chen wasn't here to celebrate it with Chen.

"You know, I was taught the dead cease to be, that they can't hear. But I've heard they come back. Maybe you'll come back to me, my son. Maybe, you're up in the clouds, looking down on me, thinking I'm an old fool to cry over bones and flowers" Old Chen spoke to the wind, placing a hand upon the raised earth, as the floral scent of the flower field washed over him and filled his lungs "I hope you are. Because I can't imagine anything else. I...You..things have been alright here at our farm. Lanfen's given birth to your kid. A boy. Big as you...you were at that age"

For some reason, Old chen's vision became blurry, and it was hard to speak, though no one besides Chen was around to hear.

"And...and we're thinking he should be named after you. Little Chen, uh...he's a happy babe. Doesn't cry much and..your sister, Nüying is, well she's left to find work! Imagine that! a pretty girl like her being safe enough to travel unaccompanied" Old chen said, sniffling as he wiped tears from his eyes "And..and you weren't here to see it. You were out there, making the world a better place, fighting alongside the giant. Being a hero. Now, now you're gone. And no one's left to tend the ox, or care for your mother. I hope the bastard who killed you rots in hell, I hope he dies knowing he took a good man from the world. One far more noble than he'll ever be and...and"

Then Old chen heard the most disgusting sound, like swine being slaughtered and turned to see what was making the racket and interrupting his mourning.

And by his side, beneath the fog. Sat a giant. With bright, golden eyes sparkling with tears. The big man was wailing and sobbing horridly, tears streaming down his scarred face as his Iron hair fell freely down his shoulder's like he was some kind of vagabond.

Old Chen watched in quiet confusion, before he realized.

It was Lieren, mourning his son like his own brother, crying like a maiden whose love had been torn away from her.

"huh" Old Chen snorted "Thank you for bringing him back to us, he..he looked like he should still be alive when his body arrived"

The giant sniffled, and whiped his nose, pressing it between his fingers.

"Thank you, for choosing a beautiful gravesite for my friend" He sobbed, tears still flowing from his eyes "He deserves nothing better than this view of his home"

Old Chen snorted and nodded, and sat in silence with the great Lieren for some time before mustering the courage to ask a single question.

"Do you drink liquor? I need a drink, and I think we have plenty of stories to share of Small Chen" Old Chen asked bluntly, as he rose to his feet "Might be he'd want a drink to"

The giant retrieved a bottle with paper stuck to its face, a scene of him fighting a terrible beast was drawn upon it
c
>>
>>4858532

"Dragon's spit, Chen's favourite" He said, voice still weary and weak from his wailing.

"Perfect. Heard its strong enough to kill a ox. Just what I need" Old Chen said, trying to laugh, but he couldn't.

So the two men, sat, discussing the glory and legacy of brave Small Chen. Old Chen was certain, he was the only man to ever see a Giant cry like Lieren did.
-

"Why are you taking me up to that School you're building, I know enough" Old Chen grumbled, his eyes half closed with sleep, as you lead him from his fields under the early light of dawn, towards the mountain but more specifically to Small Chen's Grave "I told you that already, can't a man my age sleep? Your students sing from dusk till dawn it seems, can't get much sleep"

"I'm sorry for interrupting your work , and for the part I've played in making your nights restless, but there's something you must see. It's something that will make up the trouble I assure you' You say, trying to appease the old man's temper as you lead him to the hill where Chen rest.

He falls to his knees when he finally looks up, his mouth drooping open wordlessly as he falls just before the shadow cast by the statue that dwarfs both of you. His late son's gentle, humble smile greets the morning, Spear raised towards the heavens proudly with two Oxen standing at his side. He's dressed in traditionally armor, It's helmet and facemask laid at his feet. He's turned towards the village, and the field he once tended, standing as stalwart and proud as he did in life.

"When...how...why?" He asks as you stand behind him, arms folded behind his back.

"I said small chen deserved nothing better than to rest above his home. But I had lied. He deserved more. He deserved to be remembered. It's carved of Marble from the Dai region, mined from the border between it and the Kang Region. The site of his death. The same material used to build my school, the plaque is made of a cutting of a jade block Gao Liwei gifted to me when I was under his service. I feel as if their can be no better gravestone, than one built of two parts of his legacy. The metal of the spear is"

"But...but we don't" Old chen mutters "We're poor farmers. This could've been used to buy anything in the world. We're not"

"Yes, yes you are. You are Chen's family, his people. As his brother, I'd be shirking my responsibility to him if I did not give generously to you" You say if a commanding tone, lifting your head to look upon the stone face of the memorial "But, as I was explainging, the metal of his spear is taken from the armor he wore and the spear he held. It once took the form of the first Chendao"

"Chendao? You named a weapon after him. You held him in such high regard?" Old Chen wheeps, crawling to the stature to look upon it closer

>>4858533

"It means great road or way, as I am sure you know. I had used it to slay the tyrant we faced, and other dangerous foes. But his legacy has been cemented now, and I do not need to carry it with me, for his memory lives on in my heart" You explain
as you watch the father of your fallen friend mourn and grieve openly, showing more emotion now than he has for the month you've spent in his company "His name felled wicked men, beasts, and monstrous giants, but the war is done, now his name will instead be known as one of protection and wisdom"

"You...you are truly the saint men tell you are. I had always thought I'd give you hell for leading my son to his death, but now I can only thank you for giving him such an adventure!" Old chen wails, a deep gratitude and joy clear in his expression "I..I can never repay this kindness"

"There is no need, Small chen's friendship was a gift beyond all others" You say bowing your head.

Looking upon the plaque, you smile as the sun's rays pierce the fog and illuminate the emerald hued plaque upon the base of the memorial.

In the air, projected by a device hidden in the statue itself, the names and faces of the dead are shown. With Chen's own being the most promiment.

Old chen looks shocked, before you explain.

"A trick of light, the plaque catches a...electric light behind it and the minute carvings upon the jade are painted in the air, marvelous, is it not?" You explain slowly as the old man clutches at his chest, but nods in agreement.

"This is...this is..I can't put into words how beautiful this is. It eases my grief to learn that Small Chen had such a loyal friend" he mutters.

"Master Lieren, Master Lieren!" Luli calls from nearby.

Looking towards the source of her voice, you spot her, escorted by some of the laborers that are assisting you and your students in building the first school of the Journey, Martial styles and scholarly teachings. It to, is to be named Chen Dao.

And then you see Guozhi, which shocks you somewhat, but considering his abilities, and how you had planned to search for him the moment the school was completed and teachers for it could be found, it is not too surprising he'd appear here.

Well, now he'll receive his answer towards his offer of leadership for his nascent sect of psykers.

In fact, you've already come up with a name for it.

And what is that name, Lieren?

I like this one because it's got a kind of sinister bent to it that I don't think is fully intended, but could be implied. Like an American style 'I will bring you Democracy' type policy. Prosperity is coming, whether you like it or not.

I knew I loved the tiger children a lot, but I didn't know I could love them so much. Specially sandip. I'm glad that they probably won't be demonized despite being beastmen, mainly due to proximity and history with a Primarch and also due to being swell chads.

However Old Chen's eyes are not pulled from the monument built in the honor of his fallen son and the other casualties of war, by Luli and Guozhi's sudden appearance. He remains knelt before it, looking up the recreations of Small Chen's strong visage in both solid stone and wavering light.

Stepping from his side, to allow the man space to mourn and properly admire the legacy of his son and your friend, and so to not disturb his grieving with conversation. Petals of red, orange and yellow float and dance upon the wind as they gently approach the ground, as if carried the hands of invisible sprites. The blossoms that grow over and around the site of Chen's grave, are caught by a sudden gust of wind, and come to swirl around your legs and shoulders like a half immaterial cloak. A few lingering tears blur your vision, as Luli and her escort lead the venerable Guozhi to the hilltop memorial.

"Ah, grandfather Guozhi, it is always a privledge to be in your company" You say genially, bowing one leg slightly to become nearer to the monk's own bowed back stature "For we seem to meet upon the road at the queerest of moments, sometimes I ponder if you are more the fog's son than I"

Guozhi, ever astute, catches the implication hidden within the respectful words of your greeting, and grins. His voice reaches your ears, though he does not speak.

"That is one of the many talents I have cultivated through my many lives, Lieren. A sense of when my presence is required, and when my appearance from the fog will be the most theatrical" Guozhi states playfully, his mental message sounding much younger than his natural voice.

What the well traveled monk must mean, is that he merely focuses upon your Qi and uses it as a beacon to mark his path in his journey's unseen, safely hidden beneath his "Traveler's shroud" as he names the psykerist technique he employs to mask his presence to all living eyes, except your own.

"Correct, my pupil and teacher" Guozhi's voice laughs in your mind, before he elects to now speak for all present to hear "It is merely a twist of fate that our destinies are so oft intertwined that we meet upon their crossroads, time and time again"

"Perhaps our paths once again intersect at a pivotal split in the roads of our life" You say, taking care to show all of the proper etiquette and signs of respect towards the grave you remain standing upon "Shall we walk together, and leave a father to mourn?"

Guozhi turns to the memorial immortalizing Small Chen's legacy, his eyes resting upon the spear the held with conviction in the hands of the stone simulacrum of your dearly missed friend. He closes his eyes, the wrinkles upon his liver spotted face deepening as his white beard becomes dotted with the vibrant petals of the graveyard blooms.

"It'd be only polite to do so, rather than worsening his grief with our words and unwanted company" Guozhi says with a nod.

Then he motions to Luli to follow the two of you, raising his walking stick and waving it in her direction, though he says nothing towards her.

"You may join us in our wanderings if you wish, Luli. What I intend to discuss with my teacher by no means a private matter" You say in his place, as Luli is well mannered enough to not accept an initiation unless it was formerly offered, instead of merely suggested or implied.

"I am most gracious for the offer, but I must return to do my part in the construction of the school. The opening of its gates cannot be delayed for even a moment! I apologize if this refusal offends you, master Lieren. But one as diligent as yourself must understand my choice" Luli meekly replies, placing her hands together as she bows at an angle only the most flexible of acrobats could accomplish without cybernetic enhancements

"What a dutiful girl, for a time, young woman of her character were a rarity in these lands" Guozhi chuckles, brushing petals from the length of his hanging beard, brushing his fingers through its length and curling it around his fingers. He nods once or twice in approval towards Luli's decision, and you mimic the display.

"A good work ethic is a rare trait, but a valuable one indeed. And do not worry, I take no offense by your decision. For it is yours to make and I cannot help but to admire your selfishness in this choice. I shall see you at the grounds of the school, Luli" You say, cupping your hands together and bowing, a motion that Guozhi now mimics "But my grandfather and I, will be taking our leave for now, to discuss"

You turn to Guozhi, and lock eyes with him. In a moment, he understands what you imply, and his grin widens joyously.

"A great many things, I am sure" Guozhi says, unable to mask his giddiness "Shall we walk to the nearby pond? I am told it is as clear as glass in winter, and wish to see if I can see my reflection above its dark waters"

"I would be content to wander without a direction, but if you wish to rest by its waters, I shall not argue against that desire" You say, folding your arms and stowing them away into the sleeves of your robe, nodding to Luli and her escort, and then to Old Chen to casually indicate you were now leaving in Guozhi's company.

"May your journey, though it is short, be safe and filled with comfort" Luli states happily, bowing her own head in good bye.

"Don't let the old timer fall into the water, its frigid this time of year " Old Chen says, between bittersweet cries and wails of intermingled sorrow and joy.

And with that, Guozhi leads you through the fields of blooming flowers, coloring the usually drab winter landscape. He says nothing for the short trek from the memorial to the pond, but as you near he begins to suck his teeth.

"I have come to realize, I have never died by drowning before. I have heard it is a most agonizing experience, but the mind wanders. Imagination can only be so vivid" Guozhi mutters, grooming his beard as he stares at his reflection. He's joking, of course, but his humor is in rather poor taste.

"I've heard burning is the most painful form of death" You answer dully "I've been burned before, by flames hotter than any forge. So I have reason to believe such claims"

Guozhi snorts, taking a seat upon a boulder overlooking the rows of reeds and clear expanse of the pond's waters.

"Well enough talk of death. I assume you have decided to take the mantle of leadership of my burgeoning sect, as I had offered a season before?" Guozhi asks, grinning merrily as he turns his eyes from his reflection to face you.

You nod, and walk to his side, glancing down at your own doppelganger painted upon the pure waters of the spring fed pond.

"Yes, I've come to realize, that men such as you and I are at a grave risk, even if their potential is far below our own. My encounters with the predators, beguilers, and enemies within the Empyrean have shown me the ease of which a psyker is preyed upon and corrupted" You answer quietly, your reflection rippling and vanishing away as you kick a rock into his face "The temptation of power, the dark lure of mysteries, the despair of life, the pull of desire are but a few lures that may lead our kin down darker paths"

"As my own brothers were once tempted, I know the dangers of the spiritual realm well. You've bested the spirit that stole the souls of fellow adherents, in ages past" Guozhi sighs, his expression darkening and showing the vastness of his age "Through the lord of the mountain, we learned the dangers of our power by the subverted wills of our brothers. Now you to, understand the threat of the unseen"

"Yes, I've battled against three such spirits now and know well how a weaker mind may falter before their guile and deceit" You answer, nodding as your reflection returns "Sorcerers, dark magicians, and heretic alchemists, all present a great danger to the lands and people. Yet, each was once our kindred, a psyker tricked to walk a dark path. This generation of psykers must be warned and informed of the dangers of their power and life"

"As it was, before the Yan burned my home, and my sect mates vanished into the ether, devoured or ripped apart" Guozhi mutters morosely, before good cheer returns to his voice "Yes, you shall be the shepherd of this new generation of cultivators, of psykers. Their father, and their guardian"

"I don't know about father, but I am already guardian of every innocent man, woman and child upon Shangrala" You answer, kicking another rock into your reflections face "And, I've already decided upon a name for this sect, so our students may at last have a name to flock under"

"Ooohhooo?" Guozhi shows his curiosity without words.

"Yes, we shall be named the Wanderers in the fog! A most fitting name considering our shared habit of traveling the wilds and roads of the world in pursuit of goals few men could comprehend " You shout , pounding a fist between your twin hearts. Guozhi nods.

"Yes, a name most befitting our sect. For every Shangralan is a child of her fog, it is the shroud that nurtures us and guards us against danger" Guozhi says, pressing his hands together and shaking them in the air thrice.

You repeat the motion, out of a sense of comradery with the old monk.

"So, Lieren. what shall be your first action as the official Sect master of the Wanderers in the fog?" Guozhi asks, setting his staff between his legs in a manner you've come to learn is a habit of his.

"That is a good question" You say, scratching you chin as you ponder what is the most vital to teach.

What shall be your first action as sect master, Lieren?

They need training before they can be tested to rise in ranks. But if we establish how bad it is, and teach them to ward areas, this will start them off with a good basis.

"Gather the students honoured Grandfather we have much to do"
We will gather them and enlist their aid in creating the null charms however what is important is that they are with us creating the first few that we might properly explain the charms purpose which Segways into practical learning regarding the dark temptations that will try to seduce them. This lesson once taught will let us send the majority of the students off to continue making the charms leaving us with the senior members, they shall be told their duty to watch over all mankind and our people, in time teaching the Juniors they can start by working beside them. (We send them to aid in the construction)

The key is trying practical experience with mental and spiritual. Physically tie them to the places and people they will watch over

So Lieren will first gather the sect, and lead his juniors in warding the School's grounds and walls with Null Denouncement Charms, and then explain to them the dangers of their powers and the temptation of wicked spirits.

Before attempting to teach them simple psykerist techniques and leading them in a session of meditation as a method of teaching. Using his own potential; as a shield for their minds and souls as he deepens the prior lecture with visions of his memories filtered and dulled so they are not overwhelmed by the sights burn themselves into your eyes

Lashing your arm outwards, challenging the horizon and the heavens above and all that lingers yet unseen, you flash a cocksure grin as the rays of the sun illuminate your face, the iron hair that frames it and the two pools of gold that sit shimmering upon the surface of your eyes. Mist rises from the pond's chilled surface, petals flow from the fields curling and twisting upon the wind like half seem ribbons of ethereal silk.

The celestial fire scorches and burns through the fog, sending dim beans of its distant brilliance cascading around you and Guozhi as the two of you stand in silence, opposed against that which is not there and in a sense is not even real.

"Gather the entire membership of the wanderers in the fog sect, and bring them to the school I build. Tell them their first true lesson awaits here, beneath the silver blue glow of the winter's moon" You answer, keeping your outstretched hand leveled with the horizon, the gentle breeze growing in intensity and rapidity, as they begin to cry out and whistle through the distant ravines and mountain peaks. The ever present shroud of fog swirls and dances upon the newly awoken gale.

"Bring them to me, at this mountain, and we shall begin our hidden work. Our secret duty. Gather them, and explain that I have taken the mantle of the sect's leadership and have vital wisdom to impart upon them." You say, slowly curling your open palm into a fist so tight it could compress steel into the shape of its grip "I shall remain here, working with my students outside of the sect and building their sanctuary and college. As you are my second, I shall explain to you my intent, honoured grandfather"

Guozhi stands to his legs, eyes cast towards the same horizon you now challenge. His expression stern and unyielding, his lips part to speak a single question.

"And what is that intent, "Elder" Lieren?" Guozhi asks, a spark of mischief glowing in his youthful azure eyes as he shifts them towards your direction.

"To first' You say, shooting one finger out from your tightly curled fist "enlist their aid in warding my temple of learning against threats unseen, Be they spirits foul or their servants foolish. Then, their lessons shall begin. Then, they shall learn of the inherit dangers presented by their nature, and of the unliving villains and predators that stalk the winding roads of the Empyrean and hide behind its winds"

Turning on your heel, you turn to face Guozhi with two fingers now raised towards the heaven, and slowly uncurl a third.

"And, when they are ready, we shall undergo a group meditation, show I may show them visions not only of these threats and their temptations, but of the kindly inhabitants of the spiritual realm as well" You say, opening your hand fully, as you once again turn to face the horizon "Gather our students, and bring them here, were I shall wait for their arrival so they may begin the "cultivation" of their hidden potential in earnest"

"A satisfactory beginning for our sect, I shall do as you command. Though, I myself feel dread of the thought of being made to view a memory of those abominable beings, but though their visage and presence is the very incarnation of terror, I shall endure if I may once again be witness to your subjugation of such horrid devils" Guozhi says, rising to his feet "Surely such fear will impart upon our juniors a caution that will guard their souls and minds throughout the journey of their lives"

"Hopefully they will not need such protection, but it'd be naïve to assume that such a wayward hope would become true" You state solemnly "But we now both have tasks to see done, so I must leave your company for now, Grandfather"

"Can we not share tea beneath the rising son? Just a cup?" Guozhi says, offering an open hand to you

You smile and laugh.

"Dawn side tea is always a welcome treat. I suppose I could indulge the mundane pleasure of it with company as fine as you" You say merrily, as Guozhi nearly matches the volume of your laughter.

Jinhai sat across from the scholar Shirong, twirling an arrow he had caught at dawn's first light when his convoy was ambushed by a foolhardy band of brigands paid to end his life and implicate their employer's rivals in the sinful work. There had been resitance in his campaign, but none of it had been open. Several of the noble's he had met with had promise assistance, only to betray or attempt to use his army for their own ends. It'd seem a den of vipers could not help itself but to strike out against intruders.

However, such brazen treachery only served to adjust Jinhai's eyes so they may perceive such deceit with greater ease. And pruned the trees of the two infighting noble lineages of their most foolish and villainous members. Now he sat at a crossroads, concerning the Luo, the Huang had mostly settled though the dispute of power and position still waged on in a "hidden" form of war, that he intended to bring an end to personally.

The wailing of those who had sought to end his life, or would see themselves named lord through any means no matter how despicable pierced the silence of morning. As if being confined to cells and kept from the luxuries of their extravagant lifestyles was akin to torture.

They were camped outside of the manor of one Meng Luo, who had kidnapped and threatened several ranking officials from the rebuilt kingdom, alongside members of his own family who stood before him in the line of succession. The fool had made it known if his demands were not met or if his citadel was attacked, all of his captives would be put to the sword and pyre. However, unlike the Tao's citadel, Jinhai could see no weakness that would allow him to infiltrate its walls, and Lady Dandan's Dragon artillery would only serve to hasten the deaths of those kidnapped.

Jinhai had been debating a means to break its walls through tunneling beneath them, when he was approached by Shirong.

The scholar, who Lieren considered a distant friend according to his own words, described a machine he had invented after being inspired by Lieren and another "Friend" of his, whose identity he refused to elaborate on. Jinhai didn't mind secrecy, after all, Lieren often times needed to shroud his actions with a veil of mystery so his goals could be achieved. And the manner of which Shirong referred to this "Friend", made Jinhai imagine their identity was kept hidden for their own safety or for him to more readily accept their aid.

Perhaps it was Yan Zihao, or some courtier Lieren recruited from the palace. However, such secrecy would be unnecessary, as Jinhai was not the kind of man who would condemn others for prior allegiance or relation. But he listened curiously.

Shirong spoke excitedly, showing him models of the device he intended to break the siege with. He said they could fly without wings. Which was something Jinhai had observed to his astonishment in nature before, seeds and little rodents who would glide upon the winds.

But, the vehicle that Shirong displayed, was quite different from such oddities. It was a armored basket, beneath a large tarp of oiled silks and hide, that would be inflated by lighting a fire beneath it which would carry it aloft upon heated air. And with great beacons powered by electricity, they could pierce through the shroud of the ever present fog and be guided through it to silently land within the grounds of Luo Meng's castle!

Or float above it, for a team of elite specialist to infiltrate through. That possibility was the one Jinhai preferred.

Closing his eyes, he envisioned the operation to come. And was sure of his success after several adjustments and changes to his original plan of action. Luo Meng had, before his arrival, held one of the largest support bases amongst his peers and kin, but had fallen when most of his followers had proven themselves to be blackguards and criminals of the worst kind. He himself, would join them in their cages, despite the "indomitable" fortifications he had hidden himself behind.

Little did Jinhai know, this deed would earn him two grand epithets in addition to those already attached to his name.

Conqueror from the skies and the Unseen Azure Wind.

Avinash was confused. Uncle Lieren had been up late at night, nothing unusual, as he had never known to his uncle to rest or sleep especially when there was work left undone. But what was odd, was that he was joined by robed figures, dressed in white silk accented with Black, green azure, plum and gold. His companions smelt strange yet familiar. Like He had met a close relative or acquittance of theirs before. But the young cub could not understand why it was so. So he watched from the shadows as they worked in the emptied halls of the skulls, moving in packs as they traveled.

For a horrid moment, he thought his venerated uncle had fallen with a cabal of sorcerers, as their actions seemed to be similar those of the cowardly breed. But he refused such a possibility and watched on, listening closely to their words and songs as they worked.

It dawned on Avinash, what exactly their purpose was in his home. They were carving tiny characters into the mortar, marble, steel and wood that were used in its construction. Symbols he had seen before, for they were scratched onto Ananya's new fangs and filled with molten gold. He had remembered what his fellow leader had told to him, that Uncle Lieren had explained their purpose to her. That they were a focus for will and spirit, warding glyphs that would banish away wickedness and evil. And foul sorcery.

A protection! the realization greatly relieved the youth, but he watched on, now more curious than ever, as he watched his uncle and the weird robed men and women continue their work. But as he lingered closer to them, he recognized the scent upon them!

He had known these people, they were the friends he brought to help build his home, who treated uncle like their own father and savior! So they were some kind of....anti sorcerers! Those who protected other from the spells and hexes of warlocks and witches! Avinash felt a sense of pride rise up in his heart, and course through his mighty veins! Of course! of course his uncle would keep such company. Lieren hated all things foul in this world, after all, it'd make sense he'd wage war against the practitioners of the coward's ways.

But, Avinash did not leave then, instead, he copied the sigils into his journal with a piece of charcoal, carefully copying their every detail upon its pages. If nothing else, copying the symbols filled him with Joy
-

You spot Avinash scurry back into another corner, scrawling notes and drawing imitations of the Null Denouncement Charms. It's amusing to see him try to sneak through the shadows, for despite his kind's natural aptitude, he is still just a child, and has been spotted by several of the junior sect members gathered to assist in the construction of your first great academy.

it was endearing to watch the boy come to his own conclusions. Though you had a feeling you'd have to explain the nature of the symbol he copied, to ensure he understood their purpose. But, now that he had distracted himself in copying the same script repeatedly into his journal, which was supposed to be used in his lessons when classes began, you could in good conscious, leave the labor of wording the school's halls and grounds behind and begin the lessons of your other group of students.

The cultivators of the Wanderers in the fog sect.

"Junior Kuan Im, alert my disciples to gather in the cavern beneath the waterfall east of Chen Dao Academy's grounds, the time has come for your first lesson in" You say, pausing to figure out how to word your intentions in a way she and her fellows will understand
cont

"Cultivation, the Qi there is potent but becalmed, it will be a perfect site for your introductions to the hidden world"

Kuan Im's clouded eyes turn to you from her the wall she had been chiseling and warding with pieces of jade etched with the Null Denouncement Charm. A joyous smile spreads across her lips. Without a word, she bows graciously, and leaves your side to bring your message to her peers.

The moment she has vanished from your sight, you leave for the cave yourself, to prepare it for the sect's lesson. Sticks and braziers of incense would need to be lit, alongside oil lamps and candles. As it would be a pointless endeavor to wire the cave so fluorescent lights, the traditional forms of illuminations would suffice and would produce a more mystical atmosphere, which should help set the cultivator's minds at ease and open them more fully to the knowledge soon to be imparted upon them!
-

The lights are dim, Qian Xiaowen sits motionless towards the back of the procession of his fellow disciples. The falls thunder behind him, the spray of their frigid waters trickling down his back. Gloom and shadow expand before his eyes, seemingly endless beyond the light of candles and lanterns. A few of the youngest disciples, those Guozhi found upon the road and orphaned by war or famine, cling to electrical lanterns like the they were shields.

A dais stands in the edge of his vision, carved from the walls of the cave with a trench of smoking wood soaked with fragrant oils and stinking herbs. He wonder if his sister would approve of his current situation, sitting alongside mystics, priests, monks and occultists who all shared his gift to manipulate Qi naturally.

Tension was thick in the air, the cultivators near his own age gossiped and whispered their own guesses and theories of the lesson to come.

Grandfather Guozhi, the only member of the sect who had reached the status of Core disciple, emerge from the shadow, waving a bundle of smoking grasses in the air, before he curled his strand of prayer beads around his arms and fell to his knees in silence.

Then, Lieren came, his golden eyes flickering beneath the fire light, like the eyes shine of a great predatory cat.

"The sect master, wishes to share a portion of his vast knowledge with all members of the wanderers in the fog sect, as he believes it is necessary for your ongoing cultivation and safety" Guozhi says, his voice raising high and breathless as he speaks without taking a breath, sounding like a shaman from ages past "For, like myself, he is knowledgeable of the dangers of our way of life and knows the face of those who would be our enemies. I myself have been unfortunate enough to encounter these threats, but Master Lieren has slain them and knows their ways"

Lieren says nothing for a moment, a murmur travels through the crowd as he steps to the edge of the Dais and closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath.

Smoke trails into his nostrils, and escapes his lips, giving him the mien of an ancient dragon forced into the body of a man. With white smoke still curling from his lips, he begins to speak.

"In empowering ourselves and our souls, we attract the attention of wicked spirits and devils. The light of our essence draws them near and entices them to interfere with our lives and plot to take control of our flesh or devour the spirit" He explains, in a tone so cold and grim it feels as it if were spoken by a man who had experienced such predations first hand.

The words crawl down Xiaowen's back, stabbing into his spine like a thousand and thousand needles of ice. Before he is able to fully comprehend what Lieren means, he speaks again, his powerful voice demanding his attention.

"This fate befell Guozhi's prior sect, all that remains of them are flickering memories and torn ribbons of the stuff of souls" Lieren continues on, sorrow filling his piercing eyes. Teeth chatter, some gasp, a few whimper. Xiaowen gulps, and maintains his composure as he was raised to as the future head of his family. He could not show weakness or fear. His elder sister, Xia, taught him that revealing such vulnerabilities would be deadly

"They desire the warmth of all living things, and hate all things equally. But the light of a cultivator's soul burns brighter and fills them with great glee to destroy and corrupt" The sect master continues on, smoke still billowing around him and from his mouth, smothering and hiding away all but his eyes "When the boundary between worlds is thin, these evil spirits will seek to tempt or attack you. They will approach, offering power, wealth, pleasure, release from pain and agony, and a thousand more curses presented as gifts. They will offer all that you desire, and many things beyond that. They will speak of immorality, of mysteries in the dark between the stars, of the true nature of the world. Things practitioners of our hidden journey oft greatly desire. But, to accept even the smallest generosity from these never born abominations"

Xiaowen catches visions of three faces, a beak surrounded by tentacles and fanged tendrils, a fox's head wreathed in flames, and a rams skull crawling with vermin formed of metal and rotting offal. He nearly vomits from the sudden intrusion of the visions, but they soon fade.

"Is to invite a doom far worse than any death or oblivion. They will break your mind, mutate your body, and pervert your soul. Your convictions will be turned towards the darkest of ends, your free will washed away. No rebirth or after life awaits those who accept these dark pacts, only eternal damnation and enslavement, if your tutor in the dark arts does not merely consume you or cast your soul to a lightless void for their own amusement" Lieren snarls, sounding like a panther meeting a rival, or a dragon challenging the celestial courts themselves

"They will masquerade as gods, they will masquerade as friends and servants. But they seek naught but your eternal corruption and destruction, know this, and understand the dangers that surround your existence"

A few candles blow out, as a wind whips under the water of the falls and snuffs out their life.

"Even if you abandon this life, and leave the road of cultivation, the danger will remain" Lieren continues on, stepping from the dais and emerging from the smoke shrouding him "Your potential cannot be bottled or removed. Your powers, without training, will scream out of you and inflict pain and havoc upon the world. Careless use of your abilities, will tear holes in the material of reality, and call these devils to your whereabouts if such recklessness does not kill you outright"

Lieren pauses, at last allowing Xiaowen and the other disciples to think upon the wisdom given to them, and knowledge once hidden. It is not long, before he speaks again.

"I shall teach you, how to harness your abilities without risk to yourself and others, train your minds and bodies to endure the wiles of spirits, and harden your resolve and wills to guard against their vile powers and arts. In time, your thoughts will become guarded by the fortress of your mind, and you will become guardians of the mortal realm" Lieren explains, his voice lightening "But first, you must learn the simplest techniques of our sect. The Traveler's shroud, that hides the aura of your spirit and Qi from all but the most perceptive of eyes or supernatural means, and the five daggers of winter's embrace, a technique once employed by Grandfather Guozhi's sect, the wardens of mysteries, for self defense and minor banishments "

Lieren raised his mighty hand, and focused upon it, narrowing his eyes and he stiffened his fingers into a painful seeming mimicry of claws. Similar to the "Claw" hand of the Fog panther style.

Smoke swirled around his fingers, as frost gathered upon them, crawling out from Lieren's own veins.

He slammed his hand into the ground, and ice erupted from his finger tips, spears of ice extending from the patch beneath his palm. A moment later, they dissipated into golden light, but the biting chill remained. Xiaowen's jaw fell slack. His mind scrambled to understand what he had just witnessed as Lieren rose, and he heard his voice, but saw that his lips did not move.

"And the ability to speak without speaking, A technique known as Wind Whispering. Core Disciple Guozhi, and myself shall tutor you in the use of these techniques" Lieren's disembodied voice spoke, before he began to actually speak "And then, we shall meditate, so you may bare witness to the realm beyond"

Lieren looked across the awed and horrified face of his followers and smirked.

"Well, now your hidden Journey has properly begun, my students" He said merrily "I shall be beside you for every step of it"

You could feel the essence of every member of the Wanderers in the fog sect, the warmth of their life and the weight of their souls. As tangible as the wet stone beneath your fingers. You could see them, as readily as you could their mortal vessels. Slowly, you ignited the strings connecting them to you, feeding them as your own soul fed upon their radiance.

Slowly, carefully, you began to pour knowledge into their minds. A form of your psykerist technique "The golden sea's aura fills a thousand vessels". Which if of itself a inverse of the technique "Mien of the companion loyal and true, in that it fills individuals with a greater portion of your own soul's energy or Qi to empower them and allow a closer contact between your mind and essences and theirs, While the Mien draws on the existence of others to empower yourself. Both techniques only work when both parties hold strong emotions for the other.

This form of the Golden Sea's Aura, allows the transferal of knowledge and emotion. And as the members of the sect free the minds from the confines of their body, will allow them to, in the safety of your presence, to view glimpses of the sights you have already seen.

But as you guide their spiritual journeys, some oddities catch your attention. flickers in the winds and maddening lights of the empyrean.

What abnormality catches your eye, Lieren? (only one can win)
>A woman, who is not human but is no spirit, watches without eyes from a great distance

>Another giant! connected to you by blood! One of your brother primarchs wanderers this realm as well!

That's the Shuni sorcerer who made the daemon hammer.
We will have to deal with him soon.

>>Another giant! connected to you by blood! One of your brother primarchs wanderers this realm as well!
who could it beeeeeeeeeeee, now?
>>
>>4861516
to clarify, I want to see Huli Jing suffering. But I think it more beneficial to check out the eldar [a woman] or the primarchs.

Or malal.
>>
>>4861526
speaking of malal he must have had a field day when he saw the facked we jicked nurgle's door open, OPENELY shittalked him AND kicked a powerfull demon's ass, i'm imagining he went
"oh fuck man this is tooooo beautyfull, look at this duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude"
>>
>>4861526
You don't think that scouting Kamal Kanan is beneficial? We are going to have to kick his ass when the Shuni attack, it could help save lives.
Meanwhile we are going to meet our brother on the future anyway, and that blinded farseer will meet us in the future again, since she seems to be watching our progress.
>>
>>4861532
We have been the best investment he ever made.
Just had to spend a little bit of his energy to nudge the pod, and we already fucked over 2 of of the Chaos Gods, and minorly incovenienced one.
>>
>>4861532
Given that it's Malal, and expressing praise would actually hurt him...
>"Fucking new kid thinks he's so cool, throwing a rock in Nurgle's window and killing his dog. I DID IT FIRST AND I DID IT BETTER! I DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THAT ELDAR HUSSY!"
>>
>>4861532
It's probably a full "This is the best gambit I ever did."

>>4861534
I don't no, for 2 reasons which I'll outline for you here.

One, which you already got is the opportunity cost. The sorcerer, we will deal with and he can be dealt with without expending this unique opportunity to learn more about him. He must have plenty of legends and tales if the Kang are so proud of the trophy they took, so we can learn about that anyway.

And the second is The blinded farseer is currently an unknown variable to Lieren. She doesn't exist/is hidden from him by distance and ignorance, so learning that they exist now opens up the opportunity of a not immediately hostile meeting/recognising them. Which with the point made, I'm going to shift my vote from >>4861516 to
>A woman

The other darkness is tempting, but I feel like the eldar is a gambit worth taking.
>>
>>4861537
i still thing that in his own way he's extremely happy after all the amount of deamonic ass we kicked in such "short" notice is something rare in the 40k universe
>>
>>4861540
That's true actually, and since this is during the meditation, our students might see it too.
Discussing philosophy with a farseer could help the sect learn something about the eldar paths, and that could help them ward off their minds from the warp.
Changing my vote >>4861513
To
>A woman, who is not human but is no spirit, watches without eyes from a great distance
>>
>>4861550
Also I'm sad that the spirits thing lost.
Malal, could we search for the echoes of Guonzhi's sect spirits, the ones that helped us?
I'm not making a write-in because I don't know if that's a valid options and don't want to waste my vote
>>
>>4861504
>>Another giant! connected to you by blood! One of your brother primarchs wanderers this realm as well!
We've been putting off family bonding for a while now. Besides, I want to see if Malal plays the most likely card and makes this Magnus or if he goes the wacky route and this is one of the other psyker primarchs.
>>
>>4861566
We have other things to be doing and considering, considering that very few primarchs new of their kin before being found by the emperor I don't see any great advantage or disadvantage to knowing about one of our brothers specifically.

Through the eddies, whirlpools, stormfronts and heavy hanging mists of the becalmed Empyrean, beyond the distant crags home to nameless horrors and valleys that are doubtlessly the home of spirits both ancient and inhuman, numerous bizarre sights rush to fill your mind's eye in a never ending assault of information and unknown sensations that you endure so your students minds will not be overwhelmed by the ceaselessly everchanging realm. They can catch glimpses, of the the wilds of the soul, see through the mirror without feeling its presence. Your own soul acts as both a doorway, wall and filter for their curious intellects.

But beneath the shadows of great mountain draped in clouds of fog standing above a valley where the banners of three armies fly alone, across an immeasurable distance, beyond seas of liquid glass and crystalline bone, beyond the valleys of rusted blades and springs of molten bronze and beyond a tangled bed of barbed wire and feather topped spires bursting with fungal growths and branches of pulsating flesh, lies a realm dotted with triangular superstructures built of white steel that play the host to spines of towers along each of their corners.

The city sits upon a mountain top of black stone, and does not belong to the world of the dead. No. It is, like the valley of this waking dream, a reflection of the living world dyed by the emotions of men and the echoes of history. Scars of the past and wounds yet inflicted. A childish sense of curiosity flourishes in your soul, pulling your attention to the distant city upon a planet you shall never trod upon. Something is there, something familiar yet alien. Something known, yet unknown. An unfelt sense of reminiscence sparks behind your brow, beneath the bone of your temple, and into the neural networks of your mind. A connection! Like seeing an old friend across the other side of a river after being many years without their company.

A chime of psionic energy washes from the depths of the ever burning sea of your soul, cascading across the lands and worlds of the spiritual realm in a wave of musical thought reaching ever outwards in a desperate attempt to grasp a hold onto the so familiar presence of the stranger across leagues of cosmic dust and thoughtless void.

Focusing upon the city, and the glowing soul that lights its streets and spires with its red glow radiance, you heart skips a beat and for a moment your bulwark of souls and mind falters. Bolstering the fortress of your mind to protect the students who gaze upon your memories and the unreal world beyond, your thoughts meanwhile become consumed by a storm of new and once forgotten knowledge. The aura of the soul, shifts to colors unseen before settling upon a pale, gentle blue like the unobstructed sky.

"Brother" You whisper to the freezing airs of the meditation cavern, the word resounding through the minds of your students and into the empyrean winds that are called to life.

A giant sits, across the sea of stars.

A giant with skin the hue of autumn leaves and fresh spilt blood, the hide of a fairytail ogre. A single eye that matches the ever shifting color of his soul, sits hidden behind the wild man colored as the setting sun. Dressed in foreign robes, the other giant does not perceive your attentions until the blood beneath his autumn skinned hide resonates within his veins with your own.

"Brother!" You cry out, emotion over coming you, tears crawling down your cheeks before being caught in the scar beneath your eye.

The giant, who sits before hundreds of souls more potent than your own flock of students at last hears your distant call. Across vast seas of stars and void one of your brother primarch's turns his singular eye towards the gaze of your mind. Three claw marks mar his visage, revealing that his missing eye was plucked clean from its socket. Or so it would seem, for a moment, his face shifts and changes. In one moment, his single eye dominates his skull, in another, burn scars cover half his face, and in yet another his missing eye is merely blind and clouded white.
-

A strange chime echoed across the sea of the great ocean. However, the musical winds of the immaterium could not draw Magnus attention from his contemplation of their purpose and power. The perceptions and thoughts of his companions, even that of Amon the beloved tutor he had long since surpassed, were however drawn towards the musical psionic emission for they rarely venture beyond the shallows at the surface of the immaterium. Indeed, the otherwise wise Amon had warned Magnus of the supposed dangers of further reaches of the warp, describing them as the treacherous, crushing depths of the great sea.

Though his fellow scholars had greatly benefitted from his guidance, leadership, and consolidation of the great ocean, the primordial creator and their energies, they were at times overtly cautious despite the potency of their psychic abilities. But, Magnus was too kind to scold men for fear, after all, for even a society as advance and open minded as that of prospero, often feared what they did not understand. But with time, his lonesome psychic journeys into the furthest reaches and depths of the great sea of the immaterium would eventually provide him the knowledge with which to instruct his fellow scholars in the truth they so deserved to know.

His mind flew further upon the winds of the immaterium, in search of the source of the great power that churned the gales of emotional and psionic energy so he may have a chance to study its nature and origin.

But, when a great gust of thought backed by psionic power far greater than any held by his congregation, even his beloved if at times overtly worrisome teacher Amon, broke against his back. The winds that whirled around his ears, hissing and popping as they churned, spoke to him. A comprehensible voice rang through the background static of the immaterium
cont
>>
>>4863564

But that he was directly addressed, was not what nearly shook Magnus from his meditation and had for a fraction of a second threatened to pull his mind from the depths of the great ocean. No. It was the presence of the existence that spoke the words to him. At once so familiar and unfamiliar.

Magnus had spoken with his father from before his emergence on prosperan soil through the years after. The signature of the psionic message was at once akin to his progenitors and at much different. A scholars curiosity turned his focus from the deeper secrets of the immaterium, towards the direction of the voice he knew had been spoke by one of his kinsmen.

But not his father. One of the number of his brother primarchs! He was not alone in his talents. A joy nearly boundless drove itself through Magnus' chest, as he shifted his essence across the sea of the immaterium to more easily perceive his similar gifted brother. Oh how the mind wandered. What sort of man would his brother be? Was he a scholar like himself, who stumbled upon him in the search of hidden knowledge? Or had he sought him out for guidance and advise? Perhaps his desire to reconnect with his true kin drove his powers to activate in resonance with his own. Oh how exciting! this was comparable to the unleashing of his true potential years before! truly exhilarating! How his heart raced! How his anticipation grew.

Across the ruins of prospero, beyond the city of Tizca and in the great sea of the immaterium, countless miles away, separated by stars upon a distance world Magnus saw him.

His brother, reaching out desperately for his attention. He could feel his hope and burgeoning desire to speak with him. But...something was strange about his essence.

It was on fire, a seething conflagration of soul energies in a never ending cycle of destruction and renewel. Briefly, Magnus wondered with dread if his brother was in agony by this existence or if he had fallen to some horrific form of torture. But, as his perceptions focused deeper upon the golden well of his brothers soul, he was relived to see that such a paradoxical state of growth from destruction seemed to be his natural state.

How peculiar. Perhaps his father had made him to be so, or the psykers of his adoptive culture would so immolate themselves. It was truly a curious method of empowering one's self if that was the case. Perhaps, his brother would have something to teach him, instead.

Happiness clouded magnus' potent mind as he looked upon what must be his closest brother in nature with a mixture of curiosity, trepidation and an unrestrained joy.

He could see him, beneath the flames of his raging soul sat a serene mind that stood at odds with its own existence. Iron hair flowed upon the winds of the immaterium, and two golden eyes as brilliant as their fathers own looked back at his own glance. A sudden piercing sensation, like a fletcher's knife piercing flesh washed across Magnus' skin.
Cont
>>
>>4863566

A psychic power, one performed instinctually, in the very moment it was subconsciously unleashed against him, he understood it inherently. His brother's eyes saw the truth in all things! unclouded by lies and deceit, the secrets of the worlds and men's hearts were as open to him as any book. How wonderous! together they'd bring about a golden age of intellectualism and culture.

Magnus composed himself, and returned his brother's desperate message for kinship.

"Greetings, brother" He spoke to his distant mind, weaving his thoughts across the great sea between them "I was not expecting to meet one of my kinsmen wandering the immaterium, if I may know your name? This is a most welcome surprise indeed! I had feared I was the only one amongst our number to possess psychic potential"

The other primarch, with golden eyes, raises his head, and Magnus realizes to his further glee that he to, is meditating amongst fellows. Much weaker than his own followers, but they have potential yet! Perhaps he had only just emerged from his gestation pod
-

The red skinned giant answer your calls, and you hear his voice heavy with an unfamiliar accent. But it rings with joy and the hope. Joy at meeting one like himself unexpectedly, and the hope of forging a lasting brotherly comradery. The way he speaks, tells you he is a scholar, as men like Shirong and Cao Yunru often speak in structure similar to your one eye'd brothers reply. Though the way he speaks is somewhat blank compared to the tongue of the Yan, however it is more artistic than the tongue of the Visnu. How queer.

"The name I have given myself is Lieren, I have come from Nothing to wanderer the fogs of Shangrala. I too had not expected to meet kin in my journey within the Empyrean, but as you have this meeting is akin to unforeseen rain in a drought or Jade dug from dirt, a most welcome surprise indeed" You answer back genially, not wishing to give a bad first impression towards the first of your family you have directly spoken to "May I in turn know your name? So long as such a request would not be seen as rudely impolite"

A laugh rings across the immeasurable distant separating you from your brother. You ponder if all men of his planet are red, or if his skin is a mutation or perhaps the sign of an obsession with bathing beneath the rays of his home's sun.

"I cannot imagine why it would be, this is an introduction after all. I am named Magnus, and I am known as the Red amongst the people of Prospero" Your brother's voice booms like crashing thunder, resounding like the din of an apocalyptic storm "And I must praise your sense of etiquette, I do not believe I have ever met a person who speaks with more politeness. Your sense of poeticism is somewhat astounding, actually"

Hmm, of course the culture that raised him would be wildly different from the Yan's own.
cont
>>
>>4863568

It is refreshing to speak with a man who is not overtly concerned of proper social protocol and etiquette, who simultaneously is not a treacherous bastard nor born from a warmongering society that once found empathy to be an alien concept. Truly such men are rare upon Shangrala.

You mind is ablaze with questions to present to your brother Magnus, and how to approach this first meeting with him. For once, your calculations and planning have failed you. The Joyous excitement of meeting one of your brother primarchs, has upset the logical structure of your mind. Something even your battles against devil's could not achieve.

Such a comforting sense of hapiness.

How will you approach your brother, this Magnus the Red, Lieren?

We should avoid pushing too hard about the danger of the Warp. Maybe simply telling the stories about our fight against the inhabitants of the Sea of Souls should suffise for now?

We want to avoid giving him the impression Lieren isn't willing to study the Warp. We have to come out of this conversation on "his side".

In fact, Lieren calling out the lies of the Daemons Magnus summon would probably be effective in making Magnus avoid his fate in canon.

Couldn’t this allow Lieren to safely eat daemons with his soul? Since it’s in a constant state of destruction and renewal any influence the daemon would normally leave after being consumed should get wiped from the cycle his soul goes through.

https://immortalmountain.wordpress.com/glossary/wuxia-xianxia-xuanhuan-terms/#cultivation
Here’s my source so you can check for yourself.
> Cultivation (修炼 xiūliàn) (修真 xiūzhēn) (修行 xiūxíng) (修仙 xiūxiān) – the process of improving health, increasing longevity, and growing powerful. This is accomplished by cultivating Qi and training in martial & mystical arts. In many of these novels, the ultimate goal of cultivation is to become an Immortal or attain godhood.

> Internal Demons (心魔 xīnmó) – literally translates as “Heart Devils”. Rather than standard demons or devils, these are a practitioner’s negative emotions and other mental barriers which hinder their training/cultivation. Internal Demons, in some cases, can even attack the practitioner from the inside, and failure to adequately resist them may result in Qi Deviation.

>Qi Deviation (走火入魔 zǒuhuǒ rùmó) – also known as Qigong Deviation. Literally translates as “to catch fire and be entered [possessed] by devils”. A state wherein the cultivation base becomes dangerously unstable, causing internal damage to the body and symptoms of psychosis. People who succumb to their Internal Demons, who practice cultivation/martial arts incorrectly, or who rashly use forbidden arts are all at risk of falling into this state.

Why would that affect anything? Telling him about the constellations is like explaining to a sailor about an unexplored landmass at an unknown location then telling him to go find it. You’re better off asking Kanzeon about our location in the galaxy then relaying that.
>>
>>4863862
The constellations may be useless to magnus, but they're unlikely to be for the emperor, who has access to old records of humanity and experience traversing the stars personally. Magnus also has direct contact with the emperor on occasion, meaning that if anything it'll narrow down the worlds the emperor has to search in order to find us.

The earlier we are found, the more good we can do in helping our brother primarchs.

>>
>>4863569
Whatever the majority vote might be, I think we should mention the Journey and explain it to our brother so he could offer up some useful criticism. He if more intelligent than us, then again intelligence doesnt always translate to wisdom.

In addition we need to finalize our reconstruction of the military system like how we discussed in the past, in case some anons forgot.

It’s a fucking galaxy. Constellation are impossible to identify without sharing the exact reference point and all the star charts are out of date.
>>
>>4864005
triangulation on a single world is greatly different to trying to figure out "find the dots" in all of local space, with different names for the stars we can all see.
It's nigh impossible man, you need those big or unique items to find anything.
>>
>>4864027
Given how we can communicate via the Warp, we can just conjure up images of the constellations and features of local space.

>>4864071

Lieren says she is a person, and she may well be, but she doesn't have a soul she is an AI. Blanks are people but they don't have souls/

>>
>>4864079

>>
>>4864088
I remember one person posting a screencap from a book describing machine code having a soul but that’s not as important as Malal ruling on it, which while he hasn’t explicitly said she has a soul none of Lieren’s interactions or description with her wouldn’t make sense if she didn’t. Like he intends to put her into a flesh and blood (as of last chapter) or comparing her to the Emperor’s soul.
>>
>>4864097
I also remind you that AI and machine spirits are not the same.

But looking into the last thread, I bring you this.

>it would be a costly endeavor, but, with the right precautions It may be possible to give Kanzeon a body of flesh and blood, by creating an empty shell that could play host to the vastness of her mind. It is all mere conjecture and theory, but if you could just understand what genetic markers allowed for a body that was equipped to deal with a being such as herself. An artificial life birthed by the same process as the Lotus scepter extracted memories, but at a far grander scale. One that drained the very essence of life from the...unfortunate souls used to facilitate her conception.

So I have no idea what the fuck is going on with her, but it's all conjecture. Not fact.
>>
>>4864088
It doesn't matter if A.I.s have souls or not.
Because Kanzeon has, Lieren has commented on it.
>>
>>4864100
>I also remind you that AI and machine spirits are not the same.
Depends on who’s writing. Machine spirits are whatever the writer wants them to be.
> So I have no idea what the fuck is going on with her, but it's all conjecture. Not fact.
Lieren has eyes that see the truth of things so if he sees a soul then it’s a fucking soul.

that'd be nice.

All the same, it isn't paranoia. It's a reasonable doubt and skeptisism over planning to one up the emperor on a "maybe"
>>
>>4863569
>>4863607
This is great
>>
>>4864232
It’s not a maybe. It’s refusing to recognize something for what is when Lieren confirms it with his eyes. Saying Kanzeon has no soul when Lieren has confirmed otherwise isn’t reasonable skepticism because contradicts the most reliable source of information in the quest: Lieren’s eyes.

On another note on regarding the nature of AI (or more precisely Men of Iron) is that they may in fact be former people or the rebellion may have been a glitch considering what UR-025 says:
> "I am not a machine as you would understand, I am not a slave. I am not a thing. I am beyond and above you. I am a Man of Iron. And I am free."
So don’t discount them have souls. This setting is batshit insane enough for it to be possible and 40k “lore” is not very reliable judging from what we’ve seen in the quest of the future accounts of Lieren.
>>
I'd love for Magnus to listen about the unseen master but past experience suggests he'll just go "lol i'm to smrt to fall 4 that"

Another fun thing to consider from this entire thing is that with Lieren acting as a peer to Magnus, rather than an inferior (any other psyker) or his superior (Big daddy E), magnus will have someone to confide in and compete with, but also someone to anchor him and hopefully lessen his feelings of superiority in the subject of warp shit.

Also, since Magnus all but confirmed our ability to see through all bullshit on a psychic level, I think he'll inherently be more open to our opinion s and perceptions on the warp, due to our very nature.

>By pretending to suggest things about your lawyer, I lowered your defence so that my proposition would be seen as a challenge and you would accepted it without thinking, and now yu can't back down without dishonouring yourself, all the while protecting myself by not actually making statments, therefore avoiding potential libel!
IMPLYING A GOOD LAWYER DOESN'T HAVE A GOOD RECORDER ON HAND IS THE HIGHT OF FOLLY! HONOR IS FOR THE BATTILFIELD, AND THE COURT IS FOR FACTS, YOU SHALL BE BROUGHT LOW, AND NO AMOUNT OF LIFTING CAN LET SANDIP GET YOU OUT OF IT!
>>
>>4865520
Ha! Not only are you now trying to utilize illegals means to conteract my legal, but cunning trap, but you also not even understand it on the first place! For bias has no place in law, mut morale has in the mind of men!
And now I unveil my second trap, the visitor that scheduled to see the school in that day, Kang Chen!
Let us see if your morale and tone of voice can surpass his in the nature of honour!
>>
>>4865560
Illegals?!, You dare imply we have used illegal means in our court sanction investigations, Truth is on our side, for if you had any value in law to claim bias has no place, you would not feel so threatened to go above and beyond to drag this case out under the eyes of your SANDIP's teachers! GO FORTH COWARD, BUT KNOW THE LAW WILL ARRIVE FOR YOU! HIDING BEHIND THE LEGS OF YOUR TEACHERS AFTER BEING CAUGHT!
>>
>>4865579
Ah, so the constant recording of people through long distance, and trying to acquire and ultilise evidence outisde of an investigation is legal now? Especially by a civilian party?
And now you lose your temper, or more correctly, lose more of it, as you haven't stipped screaming since it started, and while we have in no moment directly insulted your lawyer, you constantly try to lessen mine and his capabilities, which, different as I have proclaimed, are grounds for libel.
However, I won't seek to punish you, merely say for you to meditate on this lesson as a journeyman and stop seeking conflict where there is none, nor to attempt to force other to acquire wings in a aesthetical attemps.

YOU CRAVEN FOOL, YOU STAND THERE AND LIES AS YOU WERE IN FRONT OF US!
>Especially by a civilian party?
THE ATOURNEY YOU HARMED IN YOUR ACTIONS IS A CIVILIAN NOW, IS THE THE GREATNESS OF SANDIPS TEACHINGS IN PRACTICE, I CAN'T RECALL HIM WINNING OUTSIDE OF THIS SETTING AS I THINK ON IT!
>And now you lose your temper, or more correctly, lose more of it, as you haven't stipped screaming since it started, and while we have in no moment directly insulted your lawyer, you constantly try to lessen mine and his capabilities, which, different as I have proclaimed, are grounds for libel.
>>4865341
You insult my mans honor, his integrity, then claim the highground in a bias court of your choosing! The gall of you degenerates! You stutter on your words because you know defeat!

>>
>>4865673
Yes. OH we can introduce him to dad too!

People are actually trying to immediately go for the metagame redemption.

I don't know what i expected, but i hoped it wouldn't be this

It's going to blow up in our face. But i have hope that Malal isn't just going to let this turn into some wishy-washy shonen where Lieren can just save all the primarchs by screaming "PROSPERITY DATTEBAYO"

>Metagaming
>Our Primarch being excited about his psychic brother is metagaming
You are a colossal faggot, stfu

I think he’s talking about the whole “FUCK TZEENTCH” which makes sense. That is clear cut metagaming.
>>
>>4865808
You mean our excellent Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law thing? Or people saying fuck that bird on their own time, because saying that is metagaming when we already know about them and their servants in character, not to mention the conversations were piss taking between updates, is fucking retarded. And implies any action we make in character to go against the dark gods metagaming as well. Fuck this guy's dumb opinion>>4865777
>>
>>4865904
Never said I was against metagaming and since it’s a 40k quest metagaming is inevitable anyway.
>>
>>4865929
Can't really call it metagaming with our knowledge and teachings plus Magnus. Really its just hoping we can get through Big E's aspie shit fucking things up.
>>
>>4865930
Debatable.
>>
Malal please come back, us anons are getting even more autistic, and someone is fishing for (You)s again.
>>
>>4865944
Its not debetable, Its quite literally "hey brother, evil fucking spooky shit in the warp and we saw a giant evil plague god. So be careful and don't trust'em."
>>
>>4866105
Also that you have to remember that we are teaching our students the dangers of the warp.
They are watching, this is juat a continuation of their class, using the example of a psyker that got tempted and corrupted.
It just so happens it's a way to shit on Tzeentch even more, because fuck him.
>>
>>4865800
No, it's the "Hello, Primarch Brother that was corrupted by chaos without knowledge, did you know that chaos is dangerous? Don't make any deal with a weird blue multi-faced man, which just so happens to be the guy you'll meet later on in the story!"
>>
>>4866128
We don't know the first part of your bitching, but it is irrelevant anyway, we know the Shangrala name of bird bitch, and chatting with Magnus for a bit we can warn him anyways, he'll know who we are talking about, so fuck off with the, "this ish metagaming bullshit."
>>
>>4866129
It's metagaming because we just met Magnus and people are already going for the Let's Warn Him instead of what any reasonable person would do which is chat with their goddamn brother.

And you're doing it because you know that Magnus gets tricked by Tzeentch later on.
>>
>>4866128
More like, hello my brother primarch, I was just teaching my students about the dangers of the warp, here, let me tell the only story I have personally seen of a psyker being corrupted by a being of the warp, to continue the lesson that I was teaching them, the whole point of this meditation on the first place.
By the way, thanks for the compliment, I can see you are very smart.
Oh what is this? The chaos beings that corrupted the psyker works for a bigger chaos being whose whole thing is to corrupt psykers, and so happens to be one that would try to corrupt you, a psyker, there is no way that anyone would be able to think that without out of the universe knowledge, that's just madness!
>>
>>4866131
>It's metagaming because we just met Magnus and people are already going for the Let's Warn Him instead of what any reasonable person would do which is chat with their goddamn brother.

>Options and votes are literally chat with each other tell stories of what we've been doing since getting out the pods
So you have brain damage?
>And you're doing it because you know that Magnus gets tricked by Tzeentch later on.
Literally doesn't fucking matter you mong. We're getting ready to tell him about our chaos encounters and all the other shit, what possible reason would we have to not warn him, when we are in a class training students, for the same damn purpose?! Are you choosing to be retarded?
>>
>>4866132
Also fuck Tzeentch.
>>
>>4866134
Fuck him....also its kinda ironic that he has lots of lich analogues as servants when he's usually monster maker.
>>
>>4866137
It's probably to annoy Nurgle, since undead are part of his portfolio.
So Tzeentch tries to steal the ones that he can.
>>
>>4866145
I suppose that makes sense, a lich is pretty anti change as things go, but when he has his...talons? In them that deep, I guess it doesn't really matter at that point.
>>
>>4866132
Yeah, no, it's the fact that it's convenient that you specifically go about how tzeentch corrupts people and does deals and stuff.
>>4866133
>So you have brain damage?
No anon, i'm pointing out that way too many people immediately chose to go for "Let's warn him so we can have the ebin redemption"
>>
>>4866149
>No anon, i'm pointing out that way too many people immediately chose to go for "Let's warn him so we can have the ebin redemption"
Again, literally doesn't fucking matter, warning him regardless is absolutely in character and fucking over worst bird is a bonus that happens anyways. So quit bitching if you don't like that inevitability.
>>
You know something that is funny?
That first anon, saying something about metagaming that posted only once.
Than another anon appears out of nowhere reapeating the same thing.
Why are the one that change and hide so much the the big blue bird appologists?
Why it happens so concistently in this quest? Is it slthe setting of 40k, or just the the size that attract the slaves to chaos?
Fuck Tzeentch.
>>
>>4866156
Probably a bit of column A and column B.
>>
>>4866153
Warning him right now? Specifcially of tzeentch? Despite the fact that he's already doing warp stuff of his own? SPECFIICALLY Warning him about tzeentch? It's way too convenient
>>
>>4866161
>Literally second chaos being whose minions we met
Literally. Doesn't. Matter. We are telling him everything anyways. You dumbass. Now fuck off with this retarded, too convenient shit when we're holding a class about this shit right now.
>>
>>4866164
It's convenient because you specifcally go about the very thing which turned magnus fool
>>
>>4866164
Anon, just ignore him.
They stop when they starve.
>>
>>4866165
So what you absolute twat. He's being Lieren'd, and everyone is looking forward to it.
>>4866167
Never works, someone pretending to be retarded attracts other retards.
