Starting with a disclaimer: This game is not finished being built quite yet. Players who join at this time should not expect to retain progress when the game is officially finished. Player input and discussion is greatly appreciated, but should be kept to breaks in processing to avoid missing turn posts during phase turnovers.

>What is a skirmish?
It's a collaborative quest genre where each participant in the thread has their own character to play with, and will interact with the party and its environment in order to progress through the game. Generally there is an element of character generation for each person to follow, and then it's a matter of surviving the mindset of the QM (quest manager) through comprehension, opportunity, and a measure of luck. Clarity and communication are key to the genre both between QM and party, and the party members themselves.

>What is Skrimbots?
A mostly dice-less tactical combat system that has taken a mix of a bunch of tactical rpg's to produce a true monstrosity of a game. Players take control of their own gynoid (a 'unit') from the six basic class builds, apply their own preferred faceplate (with attached personality) to the blackbox, and then deploy into the field for fortune, glory, and technological advancement. They'll be able to swap out parts as they progress to create their own unique unit to fit their own particular playstyle, research new items for the party, or buy gear from vendors between missions.

Players have at their disposal the following inputs each turn:

Players will then be placed on the map at the next available phase update, though for this thread player spawns will be delayed both due to theming and for ease of processing.

Last but not least, the open deployment phase.

I'll begin processing as soon as we have at least 2 players ready to deploy. In the meantime I'll be in the thread answering questions, or available in the discord to help peeps put together their character sheets. If we don't get 2 or more players ready before I head to sleep for the night I'll at least post when I'm passing out and we'll pick up the game after I wake up.

>How turns work
Players post their turns during [Action phase] and then results are posted alongside the beginning of [Realm Phase] where the reactions to player actions take place. Once that is finished it'll be posted as an update while opening up [Action phase] once more, thus repeating the cycle until objectives are either completed or the party is all set into a KO'd state.

Deployment for the first turn will be instant, but for players joining afterward they should expect to have their deployment telegraphed during results then their character will be actively deployed at the end of [Realm Phase]. This is a means to allow a level of safety for their initiation paired with allowing some leway regarding where I place them on the map. Units will always be placed in a position in range to assist an ally who is not disabled at the time of telegraph. Most often this will be within 2 tiles of an active unit.

Players who go AFK will be auto-withdrawn after multiple turns of inactivity.

•Explode will deal damage as a 'wave' on direct hit. It feels like I have a hard time explaining it normally but here goes: With an [EXP 6] attack the tile it lands in is hit with the 6 damage. The damage is calculated as separate 1's dealt in sequence that stack until 1 point of damage is dealt to HRT or when ARM is broken. Then the stack is refreshed and continues anew until all potency has been exhausted. This means any 'spillover' or remaining potency on a hit will continue on to the next layer, which will either be the next occupant available in the tile, the ground itself, and even the ground beneath the ground (when elevation gets added in). Then all adjacent spaces suffer Splash [SPL].
•Splash applies the damage of the attack in one stack, similar to a normal shot or melee attack. Occupants that are underneath another suitable occupant, such as a character hiding under a piece of debris that covers them or behind a gun wall, will not suffer damage in the same way that ARM prevents damage. Most cone AoE's will operate on [SPL] from here on out.
