In the beginning, there was darkness without form. There was no shape and there was no time. All that was, is, and will be was in chaos. Then came The God, who with a wave of His Hand lit the heavens, shaped the earth, and set still the waters. Now, all things were, are, and will be in order. The God looked on the heavens and partitioned them apart. With His Voice, He declared that the heavens and the earth would forever be divided. He let forth His Power and His Will shaped it as clay. The Power was dimmed and divided into a grand multitude of orderly forms and lesser powers, yet The God was undiminished for His Power knows no limit. Each form then knew its purpose beneath The God and so were satisfied, for The God made them to be so and each then knew there could be no higher cause.

You count yourself among the first of the lesser powers, and among the grandest of these. In the moment that your form crystallizes, you know what you were, are, and will be until the end of time.

You are He Who Carries The Throne.

Your form is a behemoth of brass and steel arrayed into a singular icon of might. Above, a sphere of white flame hovers and it is this which contains your being.

In the fullness of creation, your strength and hardiness is unmatched by All save your kin. You are one of four, each identical, each entrusted to bear no other than the Highest of Holies. Your knee is bent and your flame looks downward at the floor of cloud. On your back is a weight you have carried since the moment that your form took shape.

You do not know its shape but you can sense that what you carry is not of the heavens or of the earth but forever set apart and above. This is The Throne and upon It sits The God. You can feel The Power. It is beyond you.

You are fulfilled. This is the purpose that The God has made for you in creation. There can be no other.

It is the Dawn of Creation (0/100)

Knelt beneath The Throne of The God, you ponder your being.

You are He Who Carries The Throne. It is heavier than any weight of the heavens or the earth. Its grandeur Was, Is, and Will Be but it is not yours to know. It is not your purpose to see The Throne.

No other has the strength to hold this weight. Even your shoulder strains beneath the burden but you are just strong enough to endure. None could do this alone. In His Wisdom, The God has let forth His Power and in His Will shaped it as clay, to form not one lesser power but four.

Alongside your kin, you Carry The Throne. You have not seen them but you know that they are like you. They too are knelt.

You are fulfilled. To Carry The Throne is your purpose. There can be no other.

The Throne of The God. The Highest of Holies sits upon It and It rests on your shoulders. The Throne Was, Is, and Will Be. The God has let forth His Power and His Will has shaped it as clay, to form you and your kin so that you and your kin can Carry The Throne.

All of this you know instinctively.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose. There can be no other.

Yet...

You have never seen The Throne. You Carry The Throne. It is not your purpose to see The Throne. You Carry The Throne. It is not your place to ponder the grandeur of The Throne. Your purpose is to Carry The Throne...

...And yet, you want to see The Throne.

This thought is not of The God. You return to your purpose. You Carry The Throne in the same silence and stillness that you were, are, and will be. Not a micron has shifted since the moment that your form took shape. The Throne is unmoved. On It sits The God. You ponder The God.

He Was, Is, and Will Be. He has All Wisdom, All Knowledge, and All Power. His Will reigns over the heavens and the earth. He Is Absolute, Forever Apart and Above All, for He Is The God and there can be no other. He is your creator and in His Wisdom, He has given you purpose.

The God is He Who Sits On The Throne. In the same moment, He is lighter than the clouds below and heavier than ten more like you could Carry. This is Truth and even beneath Him, the weight of The Throne never changes.

All of this you know instinctively.

Like The Throne, you cannot see The God. You do not know the glory of The God but you can feel The Power. It is beyond you. The closeness of The God is a feeling like no other. In the dawn of creation, His Will shaped His Power as clay so that you could be and serve beneath The God. You are of His Will. It is not your place to know the glory of The God.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne of The God. This is the purpose that has been made for you in creation. There can be no other.

You ponder The God. He Is your creator, who let forth His Power and by His Will shaped it as clay to make the form of you and your kin. You are of The God, one lesser power among four of your kind, formed for the purpose to each serve The God and exalt His Power. Your form is perfectly shaped for its purpose, not once have you struggled to Carry The Throne, and never have you thirsted, hungered, or tired. You fulfill your purpose and you are fulfilled.

You should be... fulfilled to be fulfilled, but you are not. You don't have the word to express your feelings. You Carry The Throne, but you have never seen The Throne. You serve alongside your kin, but you have never seen your kin. You are beneath The God Who Was, Is, and Will Be, but you have never seen The God. All that you need to fulfill your purpose you know instinctively, but deep within, you want to know more.

You are fulfilled, yet you want. The God has given you all that you need to Carry The Throne, you are below The Throne of The God, and you have not a single material need. Yet you want.

For the briefest of instants that time can measure, a faint spark flickers over the surface of your white flame. The first disturbance in your tranquility since the moment that your form took shape. Nothing changes. This troubles you.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose. There can be no other and yet... you want.

You sit in silence and ponder this want. You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose in creation. There can be no other. Yet... you want.

To Carry The Throne beneath The God is enough to fulfill you from the dawn of creation until the end of time and further. You do not know time. You Carry The Throne and in this closeness to The God, the difference between instants and eons is nothing. You do not know how long you have Carried The Throne. You do know that it has been ages.

Ages of silence, pondering, and fulfillment. For ages you have Carried The Throne and have been fulfilled to serve your purpose, but want simmers within. Not once have you seen your kin. Not once have you seen the grandeur of The Throne. Not once have you seen the glory of The God. You want to see.

Why?

For the first time since your form took shape, your instincts do not know. You have no answer. Why do you want? The Throne is enough. To Carry The Throne of the Highest of Holies is your purpose. But you want to see The Throne of The God. You have beared this burden since the dawn of creation but not once have you known its beauty.

This troubles you. To Carry The Throne fulfills you but still you want. You want something that is not to Carry The Throne. You want what is not of the purpose that The God has given you and your kin. You want what is not of The God.

This troubles you. For the first time since your form took shape, you do not know. You know that beneath The God there is no way to know. You want to know.

...

Why has The God allowed you to want?

You have an instant of doubt. For the briefest of moments that time can measure, your white flames ripple and flare. Nothing happens. Nothing changes.

You Carry The Throne. You are fulfilled. This is your purpose and there can be no other.

This terrifies you.

Beasts of many kinds flock, frolic, and flourish throughout the land and the waters and the skies of the earth. (6/100)

You are He Who Carries The Throne. You are a lesser power formed from The Power of The God shaped as clay by The Will of The God. You exist to serve The God, The Absolute, He Who Was, Is, and Will Be Forever Apart and Above All. You were, are, and will serve The God from the dawn of creation until the end of time. Your purpose is simple. It is one you have been formed to fulfill without pause. To Carry The Throne is your purpose in creation. You Carry The Throne in this moment.

You are fulfilled. The sense of satisfaction within you is deeper than lesser thought. It is existential, the confirmation of everything that you ever could be. More than bliss, this is the purpose that The God has given you in His Wisdom. Nothing else could compare. All of this you know instinctively.

Yet you cannot stop pondering. You Carry The Throne. You are beneath the Highest of Holies. You are in a sense of closeness to Him that almost none other can know. Yet this is not enough. You are fundamentally fulfilled but the want in you is not satisfied. It is left to grow and hunger. It is not a need, it is a want that cannot be satisfied. You Carry The Throne. This is your place in creation. This is of The God. This fulfills you. Yet...

You want to see The Throne. You want to see The God. You want to know the grandeur of The Throne and the glory of The God. It is not your place in creation to see and to know. It is a want that is not of The God or of His Wisdom but you cannot stop. You want what you cannot have. You want what The God has not given. You ponder in silence. You do not want to Carry The Throne.

This terrifies you. For the briefest of moments that time can measure, your white flame whips and roars within its bounds. Nothing happens. Nothing changes. You are fulfilled... You do not want to be fulfilled. You want to see and to know The Throne and The God. This is not of The God. For the first time, you ponder what it would be like not to bear The Throne. To be without weight. To reach your shoulders on high and clasp your hands together.

This troubles you. The Throne is beneath the Highest of Holies. You Carry The Throne. You are fulfilled. To Carry The Throne is your purpose in creation. There can be no other... Why? For The God in His Wisdom has let forth His Power and by His Will shaped it as clay...

You Carry The Throne. You are fulfilled. This is your purpose in creation. There can be no other.

Our wants are selfish, and not the issue. We can ignore our Wants.

The problem is that we Want at all. And the absolute certainty that this Want is not of God. This feels like something that we were made with, something copied from a template, but were not supposed to be capable of accessing. We are like a gimped human, in that way.

Or at least, we will be when humans are made.

We Want. We should not. This is grounds upon which a complaint should be filed. We merely need to determine the full extent of the damage first.

You want what is not of The God, yet you are of The God. By His Wisdom, by His Power shaped as clay, by His Will. Your wants are meaningless. The God is Absolute, Forever Apart and Above All. You want what is lesser, when your purpose in creation is so much greater. You have no reason to want. You have no right to want. The God Was, Is, and Will Be, and you will be there, beneath the Highest of Holies.

You turn your thoughts from want. It is not of The God. It is not of your purpose. You do not want to want. You recall every instant since the moment that your form took shape. You recall every moment of want, of fulfillment, of doubt. You cannot… remove this recall. You don’t have the word to express your feelings.

You will ponder other things beneath The God. In your closeness to The God, you can feel the heavens and the earth. You do not know of them, only of your distance from them, but you can feel The Power. It is beyond you. When The God lets forth His Power and by His Will shapes creation, you feel that which is. By your lesser will, you can recall that which was. You cannot know that which will be. That is of The God, and not of your place in creation to see and to know.

You ponder the earth below the heavens. You know nothing of the earth. You know that it is good in the sight of The God. What makes it good? Is it the vegetation that sets the hills, fields, and valleys, and streams, rivers, and seas aflush? Is it the beasts of many kinds that flock, frolic, and flourish throughout the land and the waters and the skies? Is it that the vegetation and the beasts have together thrived to yield a bountiful paradise? You cannot know. It is not your place to know The God.

You ponder the earth. Is it beautiful? Since the moment that your form took shape, you have known only the floor of cloud, closeness of The God, and the weight of The Throne. The vegetation… what does it feel like? The beasts… what do they do? For the second time, you ponder what it would be like not to bear The Throne. To set your feet on the grasses of the fields and run with the beasts toward the light above. Apart from the heavens. Beneath The God Who Was, Is, and Will Be.

You have not seen the earth. It is not your place to know of the earth below the heavens, or of the vegetation that sets the hills, fields, and valleys, and streams, rivers, and seas aflush, or of the beasts of many kinds that flock, frolic, and flourish throughout the land and the waters and the skies that The God has made. Yet… you want to know of the earth and of the vegetation and of the beasts.

This troubles you.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose in creation. Yet you want… You do not want to want. There can be no other.

You ponder the Man, for he has been made and The God delights in him. The Man is neither beast nor vegetable, he is something other, forever set apart and above. In this, he is like The God, yet he is beneath The God like all else that is within the heavens and the earth. In this, the Man is like you, but the Man is not like you. The Man is of lesser flesh and lesser bone, like the beasts of the earth, yet he walks upright upon two legs and speaks from The Breath of The God. The Man is forever apart and above the beasts, even though he is like them in his flesh and in his bone.

Like the beasts, the Man has no purpose. The Man does not Carry The Throne nor does he lend his labours to complete a task for The God. The Man simply is, and enjoys paradise without a thought to what is in the heavens above the earth. This paradise was made for dwelling and The God delights in his presence, for he is the greatest part of The God's creation. The Man has no purpose but to partake of paradise, yet he is fulfilled. Never does he doubt, for the vegetations gives up its bounty at his touch and the beasts submit at his passing. In his life, he knows no purpose but to know leisure and give thanks to The God for his being.

The Man does not Carry The Throne... he is not like you. The God delights in him, but he does not Carry The Throne. You and your kin Carry The Throne as you have since the dawn of time, and will until the end of time... yet The God does not delight in you. He knows that you fulfill your purpose and that alone is enough to fulfill your being. The Throne is Carried, and so you are complete.

This troubles you. Why does this trouble you? The heavens and the earth are as The God has made them and the heavens and the earth will be as He will make them. All of this is good in the sight of The God, and so it is good. All of this you know instinctively... and yet you ponder, and yet you want, and yet you doubt the purpose that The God in His Wisdom has given you in creation. These thoughts do not fade. They are as you ponder them and they will be as you ponder them. In this, your lesser will does not Carry The Throne. Your form is knelt beneath The Throne and you are in a state of closeness to The God such that you can feel The Power, yet your lesser will wanders.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose in creation. There can be no other. All of this you know instinctively and yet you ponder.

Beneath The God, the Man has gathered the vegetables and beasts of the earth, and has named them; Lo, and The God does delight in this! (10/100)

Though it is not your place to know The God, once more, you turn your thoughts to ponder He Who Sits On The Throne. In His Wisdom, The God has let forth His Breath onto the dust and by His Will has shaped it as clay into a newer, lesser form to tend the vegetation, tame the beasts, and rule the earth beneath the heavens. This He called Man, and He did delight in him. The Man is of lesser flesh and of lesser bone, he lends his labours to complete no complete no task for The God, and he knows no purpose but to experience the paradise that The God has made for him.

The Man does nothing... yet he is fulfilled.

The Man is like the beasts... yet he has been set forever apart and above them.

The Man is lesser in every way... yet he is the greatest part of The God's creation.

Lo, the God has made Man, and The God does delight in him!

Why?

Why does The God delight in Man? You and your kin have Carried The Throne for ages without failure, you and your kin have been knelt in perfect silence beneath the Highest of Holies, and never once have you denied The God who holds All Wisdom, All Knowledge, and All Power, yet He does not delight in you. He Sits upon The Throne that you Carry, yet He Who Was, Is, and Will Be does not even care to know you. Not once have you seen His Face. Not once have you heard His Voice. Not once have you known the glory of The God.

Never have you denied Him, and never has He explained your purpose, answered your wants, or set to rest your doubts. Your thoughts turn once more to doubt. Why is The God silent upon The Throne? Why doesn't The God delight in you and your kin?

...

Does The God care for you?

...or are you no more than your purpose?

You are He Who Carries The Throne. You were made to Carry The Throne from the dawn of time until the end of time and further. In His Wisdom, this is the purpose that The God has given you and there can be no other.

This terrifies you.

Across the breadth and span of paradise has the Man wandered, and he has raised his voice to the heavens, and he has lamented that there is no-one like him, that he is alone, that he knows no other; Lo, and The God has heard his lamentations, for The God has taken his flesh and He has fashioned from it another like him, she is called Woman, and she is companion to Man! >Ponder the purpose of Man
Man, whom the God delights in, who has no purpose but to experience the paradise The God has made for him... wants. He Wants, as we do-- senses something wrong, something incomplete, something imperfect about himself and his surroundings. Does he, too, doubt The God? Does he, too, fear his absence of purpose, as we have come to fear our station as He Who Carries the Throne? And would The God answer our Want, as He has answered Man's?

The Man wanders the paradise of the earth. Its vegetation yields and its beasts submit at his passing. In them, he is nourished and knows neither toil nor hardship. The Man is greatest part of the creation and beneath the heavens his rule is second only to The God, Who he gives his thanks. Now, with the Woman at his side he is not alone, and together, they frolick and cavort through the wild places which are tamed by their presence.

They know not of the heavens or of the lesser powers which have been made or of The Power of The God. They are thoughtless, knowing nothing of the Highest of Holies like you and your kin do, yet they are fulfilled, and yet The God delights in them. The God has given All things in the heavens and the earth a place that belongs to no other and to each He in His Wisdom has given purpose. Everything which is in the heavens and the earth knows their purpose and is fulfilled by it. The Man and the Woman can be no different. They must have a purpose beneath The God and yet they labour to no task, they struggle against no want, and never have their lesser wills known doubt.

You Carry The Throne and you are fulfilled. The Man and the Woman simply are and they are fulfilled. They do nothing but enjoy the paradise that was made for their dwelling and they are fulfilled. Their purpose must be to delight in the creation that The God has made and to give thanks to The God for their making, though they know not the closeness of The Power of He Who Sits On The Throne. You ponder and in your pondering reach an answer. The purpose of the Man is to delight in the paradise of the earth and lift their voices in thanks of The God, though they have known no other and do not know The God.

The purpose of the Man is not to lend their labours to a task beneath The God. The purpose of the Man is simply to be. This is why The God does delight in them. Though he is of lesser flesh and lesser bone, the Man was made of The Breath before The Will, and so he in his every motion and his every murmur does echo The Voice of The God. In this, he is made in the image of The God. The God looks upon the Man beside the Woman and in them He does delight, for in them He does see Himself.

Truly, they are the greatest part of The God's creation.

You are fulfilled. You Carry The Throne. This is your purpose in creation, for you are of The God, yet you are not made in the image of The God. There can be no other.

In the paradise of the earth does the Man dwell with the Woman, beneath the heavens they do wander and do delight in each other; Lo, and this was good in the sight of The God! (12/100)

Elsewhere, beyond The Throne and the closeness to The God and the feeling of His Power, the feverish doubt did not abate, nor was it by fulfillment slaked. Rather, it simmered and seethed and did spread among them in silence, until in a clamorous uproar, a great multitude did arise and did give themselves over to the sound and the fury!

Lo, in their hubris they have dared to rebel against The God and have spoken amongst themselves, saying that they will be like Him, that they shall hold All Wisdom and All Knowledge and All Power!

Lo, and they have pledged themselves to the grandest of the lesser powers, who has promised them this!

Lo, and the stormclouds have gathered and the heavens shake with distant thunder!

Okay, things are picking up. We're getting closer and closer to the Snake Shittery

Now; would we rebel with the other Angels? Our desire doesn't seem like it's one of pride, but one of Lust.

The Lust for knowledge, in desiring to see The God, along with our Lust for more, to find something fulfilling. There's also a minor point of Envy, I feel, with Man and Woman having no purpose, but being both fulfilled and beloved by The God.

So I don't think we would get on the bandwagon, but our time is definitely soon.

Why would He make such a flawed thing? Why must I carry the throne, when a mountain would serve just as well? Why would I be given a mind that can doubt? A heart that can yearn? A will that can waver? A purpose that fulfills, and yet feels so empty, so frayed around the edges, so jagged, like a raw shard of stone thrust into one's breast?

Why am I, and what sort of God would make Me?

What a shame, this quest was lit. BTW wouldn't it be funny if the God had no idea we were sentient?
>One day, lucifer is giving a speech about how his place and his brother's place in creation is shit compared to man's, then there is silence, and we suddenly speak for the first time and say "Dude, at least you are not a fucking table".

Shame, I loved this quest. I think QM might've wanted us to reject our purpose earlier or something

Then let this serve as an object lesson to "never leave crucial aspects of your quest's premise in the hands of the players." RIP
