>What is /conqst/?
/conqst/ is a 4Chan story-telling, strategy game that is just like Risk but allows you to have more freedom in defining your civilization. Build your nation on the path that you choose, be it war, economical, benevolence or just plain chaotic. You tell the story of how your nation thrives in this ever-changing world.

>Can I join?
If there's any territory shaded in white, yes. If there isn't any, some players may be nice enough to give you land or allocate a puppet state. If not, then you could wait until the next game (or when I kick out inactive players).

>How hard is it to learn how to play this game?
Not that hard. You start with 5 territories as one nation, expand until you can't expand, and choose to either attack, fortify, or defend. Plain and simple. You also get +1 attack and +1 defense for every certain amount of territories you own, and gain National Strength (NS) and gold every roll.

The next in line for Head of the Coalition proposed a revolutionary new expansion policy whilst cleaning their bloodied knife.
"What if instead of expanding one way like a bunch of morons... we expand both ways?"
And so it was.

The Path of Ing
On one strange day, you've noticed that the environment around you appears to be a yellow ambient fog. You don't feel any different, but you've noticed some dark and strange creatures watching you from a short distance. As you try and approach them, they disappear and reappear from another distance, as if they were...playing with you. This keeps happening until nightfall, where things now seem fine. You've decided to discuss this event with your subordinates and fellow advisors, which they have experienced the same thing. What could this be?
Depending on a specific action that you commit, you will gain +1 chu (up to 5 max). Gaining a chu will unlock a power you can use as a national strategy, but beware, the # of chus you have will reduce your overall attack and defense by 1 after you have used a chu (until you get your next national strategy). I will let you know if you've gained a chu and will tell you what it is in spoilers.

We are the Central Powers, a group of nine warlords who you say have "survived this purge" and wish to claim this land for our own. We prefer not to get into petty squabbles unless absolutely necessary, of course. Perhaps we can benefit from a trade agreement for now?
>>
>>5226630
Unfortunately, we've also have claim to this continent. If you say that you're warlords, then it would be better for us to fight for this contested territory than be amicable.

Or, if you're actually reasonable enough, we could discuss the proper partition of this continent. And if you're looking to benefit each other even more, we could also form an imperial covenant with +2 territories added for expansion along with the trade.
>>5226511
Change my orders to expand near The Central Powers and attack them if they do not accept my suggestion above.
>>
>>5226645
Due to the absolute certain state of us losing the first assault, we will concede here. It is one thing to fight for honor, it's another to fight simply because the fickle whims of some knights decide that we must want to fight every single inch of land. There is so much to expand into, of course. A fight would restrict both our ability to claim land and weaken one of us to the point of non functionality.

What I'm saying is that it would be a long, drawn out war that benefits neither of us.

Everything south of the circle surrounding Olathe can be yours. Alliance, accepted. Any issues?
>>
>>5226653
Ah, so you're not warlords then. I must have misjudged you and your intentions. But you're right, there's no point in fighting each other. That is a common belief we share.

We accept your proposition that everything south of "Olathe", including the large island in the far west, is ours. We're not interested in expanding north on the continent anyway.
>>
>>5226670
"Warlords" was an improper translation used by Fringe Boy, one of our council's members. "Duelist" or "Gamesters" is a far more accurate translation to your language's tongue.

t's a cultural thing where our people fight in fake duels and battles to stay strong. It's all in good fun, of course, and deaths and injuries are minimized unless to make a point.

Glad to see you are reasonable. May this relationship be fruitful.

Unfortunately, the Head of the Coalition could not bear the pressure of leadership and committed suicide by stabbing themselves in the back 30 times.

The new Head proposed that the old policy was fine, they were just going in the wrong direction.

>"The Coalition of the Callous Coast sends it's salutations. After some deliberation, we collectively decided that you offer is beneficial, and as such we shall accept. We hope to have a long, trusting relationship between our two Nations"

In a most tragic accident, the Head of the Coalition slipped and fell into a river with a large rock tied to their feet.
The new Head of the Coalition declared that going North was silly, and that there is far more coast to claim towards the West.

It was also decided that they would actually spend their National Strength properly for once, instead of embezzling funds and appropriating resources amongst themselves as was tradition.

We are sad to inform that Zomir has sadly perished last night after a long, fruitiful gathering with the representatives of each city state. He died peacefully at the old age of 59 in his sleep, but before dying he managed to centralize even more power towards himself, which now is personified by his avatar on this world, his son, Zotrios.
Zotrios, "the prince" as he is called, arranged a banquet for each one of the cities to comemorate his crowning. With a big succession speech, which was passed down to other cities through balads, he stated that the Cities need to explore their surrounding, as did the adventurers of old.

The Coalition of the Callous Coast sends a delegation to their allies in the Free Cities Conglomerate, bearing a letter penned by the Head themselves, and signed by each representative of the Coalition.
"We believe that initiating trade between our two nations will benefit us both equally. By swelling our coffers, we ensure that we both have the strength to overcome any obstacles to our prosperity, and crush any foe that threatens our freedom. What say you?
If you agree, our 20 delegates are there to hammer out the details"
When questioned on why there are only 18 of them, the delegates reply that it was just a small planning issue, nothing to worry about.

In a city filled to the brim with public festivities, music is sang at the streets, people party and drink, the prince along with the economy and the new foreign affairs advisors arrived to greet the delegation in the royal carriage, a weird thaumaturgic, self-propelled wagon that rumbles the air it and spits smoke where it goes. It has unique inscriptions from long forgotten languages in the front and the back that were reconstructed by the cryptic historians.
After a week of discussing the comodities of each nation, it was decided that the FCC will send supply the CC with cattle and in exchange we will receive some weird black rocks.

Sadly, the Head of the Coalition tragically passed away.
Turns out that being good with a knife does not help against a crossbow.

The new Head of the Coalition argued that they had acquired quite enough coastline, and that the Nation should set it's sights inland. This radical new approach proved to be quite controversial, but after much debate the Head managed to convince the majority to adopt this new policy.

"It is brought to my attention that there is, in fact, another group who survived the scourge. They offered a trade agreement with us. You stated you wish to discuss policies on how to handle foreign contact?"
>>
>>5228955
Indeed. Here's what I'm thinking:

============================
CLASSIFIED IMPERIAL POLICY DOCUMENT (ROUGH DRAFT) I
============================
1.All members should be aware of the foreigners that they meet, which includes their location and identity.
2. If any foreigners attack one of us, we all go to war. The only exception is if it interferes with the relationship of a member and it will indeed boost our imperialistic goals.
3. By default, we should treat newcomers like a friend. Get to know their values, culture and the like. Trade with them even. This is to ensure we know what the target values so we can use it to match our current objectives.
4. Emission of any foreigners to join us will be thoroughly discussed and outlined to match our current goals, identity, and core values. They are not able to join if they don't meet our criteria.
5. If possible, use our soft (or, in extreme cases, coercive) power to lobby some nations into allying with us if we identify an appropriate nation to target.

============================
END
============================
What do you think?
>>
>>5228987
All sounds well and good to us. #5 should be restricted to prevent too much heat from getting drawn to us, but otherwise is a satisfactory command. To satisfy #1, the nation we just met is the "Callous Coast". It appears they are a Coalition, with an unusual high death rate for the leaders, constantly swapping between them every year.

From what little we've mapped out, they have taken over the whole southern coast of the continent above us. Further access requires building artificial sea routes.
>>
>>5228998
Are you looking to expand north further, or expand on our continent? If it is the former, then we should do the latter and get to know the fickle CC government for a few maps. See if they're willing to lend you a territory to expand upwards instead of wasting our gold for a sea gateway.

Meanwhile, there's some goats to the west side that we'll most likely be in contact with, so we'll let you know once we reach them.

>>
I want to read those spoilers so bad.
>>
>>5229023
It is Imperial business. Be on your way.
>>
>>5229012
I suppose that's a fair enough choice. Contact us when you establish contact with these goats in question.

The recent discovery of multiple other nations and the following diplomatic negotiations combined with the success of the inland expansion have provided enough distractions for the current Head to secure their position for the time being. A decent start.

>Expand North from the Callous Coast

With 2 new friendly neighbours discovered, the Coalition decided that it would be wise to keep their ally in the loop. And so, they send word to the Free Cities Conglomerate that other Nations had been found, and gave the instructions on where to send letter and delegates if they wished to reach them. Duly noted. Keep an eye out for them. We have established contact with two other nations, Ice Demons and the Free Cities Conglomerate. One is located near where the Callous Coast are, the other is located to the far east of the continent you recently expanded onto. No information about the first aside from their very stilted way of speaking, the second appears to be a trade and economic power

Lamentably, the current Head of the Coalition has passed away due to a virulent allergic reaction to something in their food. They will be mourned.

With seemingly limitless unclaimed lands inland, the Coalition clamoured for continued expansion towards the North, to which the Head eventually agreed.

The current Head of the Coalition is going strong, with their skilled leadership earning them the respect and recognition of the Coalition at large.
Though it helps that they are rich and can bribe assassins faster than they get hired.
It was decided that their current policies of expansion were bearing fruit, and thus should continue.

>Expand North from the Northernmost point (center) of the nation

The patriarch of one of the major Clans of the Coalition recently passed away, which resulted in a lengthy inner conflict over the inheritance.
Lately the fighting has turned so brutal that the main branch of the family has been entirely wiped out, down to the last toddler. The Coalition was forced to step in to prevent the conflict from escalating into civil war as other Clans intervene to try and get their hands on the massive holdings of the deceased Clan.
To end the bloodshed once and for all, it was decided that the wealth of the Clan would become the property of the Coalition at large, filling then national coffers.

We've engaged the "Great Goat Union", but we're seeing no signs of retaliation as they seem to give up and flee. No assistance is required.
The knights of the round table have deliberated and requested your response for the following concerns:
1.We've been on this continent long enough, but no name is given. What should we call this continent?
2.The knights also advised an addendum to the Imperial foreign policy with the following content: No foreigners are allowed on our homeland except it has been agreed upon by the leaders of the imperial covenant.
Otherwise, the head knights are pleased with the current state of the imperial serendipity and enjoyed this fruitful relationship with The Central Powers.

2.) Currently, all known natural sea routes to this continent are blocked or owned by one of us, and the only way for anyone to access it is through sea routes built via gold or strategy. We can accept this because it is incredibly easy to enforce.

We appreciate the overall boon to both of our nation's power due to us setting aside our differences and forming an alliance. Current predictions by Long Leg Lenny states that we shall stay as the strongest two nations unless something swings.

The great efficiency with which the Head of the Coalition has expanded the Nations and brought riches to it's coffers has firmly entrenched the current Head into their position. They are already one of the longest occupants of the position, and seems set to become the longest, lest tragedy strikes.

>>
>>5230976
To FCC:Yeah, I read some sections of the rules over when they became relevant, that is indeed possible with a NS. You can also just pay money to do it.
Look into the NS "Insurrection", it could help you oust them without resorting to war, if you want to. Just take as many island parts as you can then hope they have few enough the insurrection get rid of them all.
>>
>>5230979
To Callous Coast
If I ever end up going to war, is it possible for you to attack them where I border them? I know you could potentially attack them on their mainland through the straight, but I don't know if you can attack "through" me or something.
>>
>>5230991
To FCC:
I don't think so. From what I understand, each territory can only do one thing, so if you "use" them to attack or defend, I cannot do that.
Also is says that "You may not support another alliance member whatsoever. Only nations outside your alliance.", so it's probably just not happening.
Though if they border multiple hostile nations they get a depuff, so there is that.
>>
>>5231015
>>5230991
No, its not. However, your territory count attack and defense strength is shared, so it will be 8 vs 11. You could also transfer a few territories over so there is some degree of covering for a low roll for another nation. I would recommend looking for more allies if you want to attack them successfully.

We appreciate your understanding. Let us hope that we can move on from this awkward skirmish.

Anyway, my original thoughts for discussion with your kind is could we trade? We're professional farmers, so we've stocked on fruits, grains and vegetables.

IMPERIAL REPORT NO. II ADDENDUM
===========================
Turns out that the "Great Goat Union" are a community of two-legged creatures called "Satyrs". They seem to forgive us, but they do seem to hold a small grudge from our attack. I was thinking of offering them protection, admission to our imperial covenant as a member (if they qualify) or some other incentive to ensure we're in good standing with them. A knight's duty is to heal the unfair treatment amongst brethren of Euroa.

What do you think we should do?

We unsurprisingly are a people of goat herders, our lesser ones living in hills and forests, things such as sweet honey, goat meat & milk and the vast riches of the forest, such as timber & more wild vegetables and fruits are our bargains.

You have made farming an industry, while we grow forests alongside our farms, we can supply timber for homes, the sweet delicacies of the forest, goats & of course once it kicks off?

We believe that fishing, clamming & more will be quite nice in the channel. Our people have noticed you use some manner of coins in your land, this is foreign to us. But some hold interest in using such things to make fine bobbles for children, to adorn blessings to the forests & to help commerate the survival of the scouring.

Our people are different, but I see little reason to not let our people trade freely and see what we enjoy about each-other.

(You'd be amazed at how hard it can be to find people with goat eyes.)
>>
>>5231108
We'll trade some of the sweet honey and lumber as we need it to continue growth. You certainly have a variety of foods.

As for the coins, it is a entity used for value in our culture and in the Imperial Covenant. We use these coins as a way of transaction: to get something, you would need to exchange it for coins as a general token rather than other valuables such as lumber, milk or meat. If you want some coins, then we could give you a loan for you to give back or trade something.
>>
>>5231149
This is acceptable.
>>
>>5231083
We could offer them access to the greater trade network of nations we both know for pennies on the dollar. We could offer them straight cash, 50 gold from me and 25-50 gold from you. Or offer membership, which would be the simplest one, and would outright benefit them the most.
>>
>>5231197
Great, and we've recently have heard back from our partner, and we've decided to also invite you to join our alliance. Not only would you be able to get the benefit of more expansion, but you also are guaranteed security from one of the world's strongest entities. IMPERIAL ADMISSION FORM FOR: GREAT GOAT UNION

You are going to become a member of the Imperial Covenant, an alliance led by The Central Powers and The Elden Knights. The following conditions state as follows:
1. You agree to adhere to, respect, and abide to the imperial code set in place by The Elder Knights and The Central Powers. While we still grant you the same freedoms even if you are on your own, The Central Powers and The Elden Knights are the de facto leaders of the alliance, and either one's voice is essential to the covenant. As time goes by, we may consider promoting to becoming a leader.
2. You agree to follow and support our core principles and values to ensure we are on the same page. We value diversity and differences, but it is important that our beliefs are one of the same. These values include but not limited to: benevolence, self-righteousness, saviorism, and imperialism.
3. You are free to leave the covenant at any time, but doing so may be subjected to possible penalties by The Elden Knights or The Central Powers.

Correct. From current predictions, we control the most land and the most military out of all of the other nations. We currently have an oversupply of metals and meat, as per the Mack Clan's unwise move to "make everything meat" in their land.

We will be willing to offer you metal to make better tools and weaponry in exchange for wood. The trees up here can be a bit sparse, given our recent rush of expansion. Stone for our buildings would also be good, should you have it.

Trade Agreement proposal sent forth, by the unanimous approval (9:0) of the council.
>>
>>5231231
>>5231257
1. We are willing to abide by a code if it's conditions are given out freely.
2. Benevolence, self-righteousness & the saving and uplifting of others, whether animal or person is always beneficial. We will admit ignorance on Imperialism, but will assume it to be crucial to your way of life and respect it.
3,Reasonable.

Our own terms are as follows.

1.Any Satyr who wishes to inhabit your lands shall be allowed such, as long as they conform to reasonability.
2.The channel that splits our island from the mainland is crucial. we must control both sides of it, at minimum the coastline.
3.You must put some focus on sustainability of the land, replanting of resources, avoiding salting fields, the like. Our world was ravaged by the scouring once, it deserves to recover as much as it can, hold respect towards nature's spirits where deserving.

>Trade.
We agree with this plan, our metals are more sparse, stone can be acquired through some difficulty. The satyr's, farmers, herders and craftsmen of the union are satisfied with the idea of recieving many things. Weaponry shall go towards arming our rangers, milita & the forest watchers who drive off wolves & other problems from major settlements.
>>
>>5231275
The imperial code is given on a basis, as it follows current events. That is what I meant. So if we tell you to do something, you should follow as so. Especially if we update imperial documents (we have a few that prying eyes shouldn't see).

As for your terms, The Elden Knights accept. You're already taking some of my land from your attack (>>5231051) as is, so we will give you those and we'll expand east.
>>
>>5231283
Much as what is acceptable changes with the stomp of hoofs, with the polishing of horns, the code changes as our world deems it needs to, this is acceptable. We will listen, the guilds & unions of villages, wisemen & woman that led our people shall do their best to follow.

This has worked out for the better, despite the foundations being muddy to some hooves. We are willing to take advice whenever it is offered as well, an open ear keeps death far from near.

Our prince, having spent a bit too much time meddling with the Callous's diplomatic affairs, came to grow more and more paranoid, seeing shady faces erupt from the shadows and creating enemies out of thin air.
The appearance of a new neighbor, even one that we have trade agreements with, was enough to push him into a panic attack. He ordered many, many forts to be built on our most important ports to the southern archipelago.

7. Rising Walls (Fortify): The number of territories you fortify is doubled for the current map. You can move any or all of your fortifications anywhere on the map. You also build the same # of markets as forts.
>fortify the sea crossings to the east and surrounding area
>relocate the current forts as such

Our ministry of foreign affairs, having their own (although small) autonomy, came in contact with the authorities of Blackrock at a rather unfortuitous timing but kept their professionalisms and courtesies to a maximum still.
>"It is as if your government has been isolated since the cleansing! A global community of nations has been on the rise for the past few decades, times ahead are murky and dangerous and maintaining good relations with us can show itself quite profitable and favorable."

With the great deal of trade going through the Callous Coast and the gossip that comes naturally with foreign affairs, the Coalition pays little attention to their Head, who has since quietly become the longest holder of the title. Something they greatly enjoy pointing out behind closed doors.

to FCC:
I am worried that joining with Morlan is going to give the Central Powers and Elden knights the perfect opportunity to stab us in the back. Meanwhile allying with the Crivatean Leagues will make the subjugation of Morlan a forgone conclusion. For now I will just throw around implications, see if I stir them into accepting my offer. Consider the next spoiler I send to the Severians and Ice Demons sent to you as well.

>>5231803
To Ice Demons & Severian Towers:
Greeting, my Northern neighbours. I have a most serious proposition for you both. What The Sea Consolidation seeks above all is lasting peace, and recent tensions with our Southern neighbours have seemingly put that prospect in jeopardy. I would ask that you both join us as members of the Sea Consolidation, so we may become allies bound by Ooth to protect one another and ensure lasting peace.
This is not a one sided offer, of course, you will find that I have much I can offer in return. It is quite clear that between the might of four Nations united, Morlan would quickly crumble never to plague either of you again. And I am not against discussing the allocation of territory on the Norther Continent, in case that was ever a concern to either of you. If you have any other favours you wish to ask, do not hesitate.
Please, consider this offer carefully. We await your response most impatiently.

To Ice Demons: & Severian Towers
Well, let's imagine the Voievodat of the Severian Towers wanted the territories of Morlan to themselves, instead of sharing them with the Coalition as they inevitably would if we were to aid in Morlan's subjugation. This is something we would be willing to discuss, if it were a condition to you two joining us.
But perhaps you want other territories? Or an even share of the continent between us three? Or simply access to the Coast? Whatever it is, I am certain we can come to an agreement. All I ask in return is that we join forces.
>>
>>5231952
I will be inconclusive in my answer, but perhaps we should use this opportunity to further our economies? Not a trade league of course, but pehaps an open market?

You said something about tensions in the Warm Sea, could you elaborate on that?

It's a most unfortunate state of affairs. The Central Powers have recently sailed across the world purely to occupy a scant few islands to the FCC's East! My close allies were very distressed by that most bizarre move, and fear for their safety.

My apologies for being pushy, please understand that it was not meant as a threat in the slightest. It is just that time waits for not one, and the longer we wait, the more exposed we are. I agree that conflict between our alliances would be pointless adn we wish to maintain our good relations. Due to our geographical position and diplomatic isolation, I don't belive we culd bring much on the table now, as such I propose an informal agreement between the 2 of us. We will help if the situation degenerates but I don't think it would be wise to join now, while we are still at war. If the Morlan scouts establish contact with the southern powers, they could gain an easy justification of war and a foothold on the continent. As such, I ask that you don't intervene and maintain the facade of an unsuccesful negotiation until the time is right. How's the plan?

I mean, if we are interfering with your sphere of influence, I believe we can take proper steps to find a resolution and coordinate our actions that would result in a beneficial 2-way gain between us rather than resort to being on guard and alert against the two largest entities on Kolovoi.

We should start by asking these questions: How do you guys feel about us in general? How much is the eastern continent important to both of you?

The Elden Knights are attacking me this turn and talking to the Morlan, probably so they can join their alliance. This changes the situation immensely. This is probably what the Central Powers intended to do with that expansion in the other side of the world before I drew their attention. I did not expect an immediate attack, and I think we have to accept their offer of a full alliance now, if it still stands.

To Severian Towers, Ice Demons & FCC
If you truly believe that an alliance is not in the best interest of us both, then I suppose an agreement will have to do. Though I will point out that you are underestimating how much we can both benefit from closer ties. Morlan would effortlessly crumble beneath our combined assault. And the Imperial Covenant would hardly receive a Casus Belli from us intervening, since it is only natural that an ally would assist their allies in any war they are waging. I believe Morlan attacked first as well, and unprovoked? They have no excuse.
Besides, we want nothing more from the alliance then deterrence. Our alliance would achieve that perfectly, as the four of us together would too powerful to reasonably assault by anyone else.
But, again, if you insist, then an agreement will do. We propose the following:
-If the Sea Consolidation is attacked by a nation they are not at war with, the Crivatean League will enter the conflict on the side of the Sea Consolidation.
-If the Crivatean League is attacked by a nation they are not at war with, the Sea Consolidation will enter the conflict on the side of the Crivatean League.
How does that sound?

To Severian, Callous Coast and FCC
The Elden Knights are attacking me this turn. This is probably why the Central Powers expanded next to the FCC on the other side of the world as well, I just made myself their first target by expanding down south. If you still want to ally with us after this development, you should know you'll immediately be dragged into a war with them.

To Imperial Covenant members, FCC
We are very glad that you have reached out to us in peace, and would be happy to answer your question.
So far, the Imperial Coventant has been a valued trading partner and a reasonable neighbour who has kept to themselves. The fact that you came to us in dialogue instead of allowing paranoia to prevail merely proves that you are a Nation guided by reason and not a destructive inclination for violence!
But there has been one... fly in the soup, so to speak. It was this most bizarre move made by the Central Powers, to use their National Strength to sail all the way across the ocean, purely to occupy a scant few islands immediately next to my ally the Free Cities Conglomerate. It is difficult to fathom why such a move was deemed necessary, since as far as we can tell, there is plenty of territory to occupy elsewhere. Poor Prince Zotrios has been worried sick wondering what the underlying objective of such a move could be. While I do not necessarily expect evil intent, it is only natural to prepare for the worst in the face of what is difficult to justify as anything other than a purely provocative move.
Of course, if you have any legitimate reasons as to why the Central Powers would believe this move to be justified, and not blatant act of provocation or diplomatic faux-pas, then we would love to hear your side of the story. It would be delightful to put this unfortunate incident behind us.
As for the "Eastern Continent" as you call it, the Coalition has little attachment to it. Though one condition for the formation of the Sea Consolidation was the we do not set foot on the Southern Continent, so I imagine my ally has a different opinion on this matter from us.
Also, you mentioned you are a group composed of three nations? We are aware of only two. Care to introduce us?

>To Callous Coast
We hope our royal message was not met with abrasiveness from their side, we have right to this land and we will not back down.
What do you think about allying the northern powers? Our only change of beating the Imperials would be to gather our strenghts and fight, instead of getting sandwiched between 1 great alliance and an equal(to us in strength) on both sides.

It's difficult to say, we will just have to see how they react. I think your demand is fair, but it depends on what they are trying to do. If they refuse outright, it is likely they view us as hostile and diplomacy with them is futile, in which case allying to the North is our best bet.
Though the Severians have been annoyingly taciturn, it seems they want a defence agreement instead of a proper alliance. If they enter into a war with the Imperial Covenant now it might be best for us to try join the Imperials instead, if they respond positively to your demands. Keep your ears peeled for now.

ACCESS ONLY FOR: FCC, CALLOUS COAST, KNIGHTS
Simply put, they weren't expanding to grab or claim those islands. Analyzing the other land masses, they were either being expanded into by other nations or were being expanded to by an ally, who I did not wish to hamper through blocking his expansion by an improperly placed gateway.

Simply put, it was unused land that no one else seemed interested in. If the land was being expanded into by the Free Cities Conglomerates and we actively tried blocking them, we would understand the paranoia. Yet from our perspective, we only saw a strong reaction for a relatively benign acquisition of seemingly undesired territories. We had no intention to block any expansion attempts nor acquire land from FCC.

We are willing to exchange territories to the control of the FCC at an exchange rate of 15 gold per territory desired. We estimate to control around 22 territories, so in total, 330 gold. This is an incredibly generous gold to territory offer, as it costs 125 to merely gain +2 territories into free land.

Of course. I find this whole issue to be remarkably silly and is a game of diplomatic tomfuckery but I'm giving them an out that benefits me. I have the potential to gain far more territory by playing along than fighting over a bunch of silly islands. Nevertheless, I'm keeping my guard up regardless.

>>5233464
To FCC:
Do you plan on accepting that deal? If not, I can still throw a few argument their way, see if they lower the price. I doubt I can get them to give it up for free, but with any luck they will avoid provoking us while also walking on the Ice Demon's feet.

To Callous Coast:

>>
>>5233470
To Imperial Covenant & FCC:
I have to admit that I have some doubts I would like to voice.
Right before the Sea Gate was opened (map 13), there were plenty of other, larger areas that would have made for good targets to expand into, rather then one explicitly next to the FCC. Consider the landmass off the Western shore of the Northern continent, which the Ice Demons happily ignored at the time in favour of moving East. They showed no indication of moving there at the time either, yet you moved into the islands next to the FCC instead, despite there being less territory there. There was also plenty of unoccupied land elsewhere on the Southern continent. Now, you claim that you did not wish to block your allies expansion, yet it seems to me that the Elden Knights were quite happy to do exactly that to you, by barring you access to the Southern continent. But of course, that is no problem, for you are close allies after all, and they seem to have gifted you territory just now to expand into the Southern continent from. It seems clear that you work closely together on what lands to expand into, so I find it hard to believe that you refused to expand into the Southern continent to avoid inconveniencing your ally, when clearly this is not an issue.
Now listen, I am not raising my voice in doubt to call you a liar, or to claim that you have sinister intent. All I am saying is that if you truly believe what you said, then this was undeniably a poor move, and a diplomatic mistake. You believed that the FCC did not intend to move into those islands, yet you did not ask them what their intentions actually were, and acted of your own misguided judgment. Like a child stealing off the plate of another, believing that they were no longer hungry.
But such mistake are normal, and nothing that is worth escalating the situation over.
Mistakes, however, do have to be rectified. With that in mind, asking for payment in exchange for the territory would not be proper. Hand the territory over to the FCC, and we will be certain without any room for doubt that your desire to maintain peace between us is pure and true. I'm afraid that anything else would put your sincerity into question.
>>
>>5233540
I fail to see how you're this concerned over 22 territories. I already spent the time and resources to expand into the land. I am offering a +1 A/D boost, considering 22 territories is enough to boost FCC's AD to that, for premium value. And oh, "stealing off the plate of another", uh huh. This was a plate with food they were not eating from. They did not land a single territory onto those islands for the whole time they have been here until I expanded onto it. Only then did they suddenly go "WEE WOO WEE WOO THE CENTRAL POWERS ARE ATTACKING FORTIFY".

Were there better pieces of land to grab? Yes. But they would also have more competition. More competition, which could lead to strife, which could lead to conflicts that would be unnecessary. I picked those islands since there was seemingly no competition. And now that there is competition in the form of you trying to frame me as some war-hungry marauder who picked it solely to flank and attack the FCC. Let's not mince words, this is what you're trying to imply, and I am not in the mood for you trying to use doublespeak.

Look. I'm giving the Free Cities Conglomerate a +1 A/D boost for 330 gold. A military base, which does the same, costs a thousand. You are getting a 670 gold discount by simply accepting this and letting the two of us leave on cordial terms. If they want to build a military base alongside the boost from the island territories, then you can give me the money, Callous Coast. I'm not willing to give them up for free when I spent a national strategy to get here.
>>
>>5233540
To Sea Consolidation and Central Powers
The Central Powers have made a fair and generous deal, and you expect us to simply hand it over without giving us anything in return.

First, What the Ice Demons do and where we expand to is unrelated to this matter. If the ice demons were concerned, they would have let us know by now (to which, they haven't). However, they almost wasted our hard-earned gold by blocking our settlers, and so we will defend ourselves if they provoke us any further.
Second, What we do and how we, The Elden Knights and Central Powers, manage our working relationship is also none of your business.
Third, if you or FCC have a problem with us expanding to those islands, then you should have let the central powers know the moment they expanded there. However, you yourself and FCC have also failed in communicating to us, and it isn't really fair that we didn't know where your sphere of influence lies.

Please stop with this silly nonsense. If we really didn't care about you or your ally, then we wouldn't be having this meeting in the first place. However, since you're so inclined on making this a one-way for you and your alliance, and painting us as "misguided" or a "thief", I highly doubt the Central Powers will agree to your counteroffer. I also think that if you keep up with your deriding tone, we might as well not do anything for you and you're going to have to fight for that land then.
>>
>>5233540
To Callous Coast
Thank you for your contribution, since they won't budge on their price I will go ahead and buy the land for 330, you can go ahead and do whatever you deem necessary for yourself or the alliance with your money. You can the other confidencial message too

Maybe as a specific event that triggers, maybe, but I'm not too keen on having it be a permanent in-game feature. I think the only major thing I would change is that if the game reaches a state where it's only two major nations at war with each other (think MIB and Hive entering a final war), maybe have the NS max lowered to 15 or something? Something to speed up and make late game fights a bit more interesting.
>>
>>5233646
On second thought after I posted that suggestion, raiseable avatars are best kept as an event as you said. As for late battle 1v1, one suggestion I got is bringing back sudden death and make all nations have either a hyper national strategy (if they meet the territory count criteria) or a regular national strategy, always maxed out.

Also, what is your quest if you don't mind me asking?
>>
>>5233618
To CC
We stay alert, be keen and smart, for if we do not manage our relations with care it would certainly spell the end of our nations.
Should the Crivatean League be attacked, well, I imagine it would be problematic, to say the least, for the Imperials to hold two frontlines.
What do you suggest we do with the Tower War?.
>>
>>5233656
to FCC:
The way I see it, Morlan seems to be losing, so if things drag out with not further complications, then they will eventually fall and that will be the end of that. If anyone moves beforehand, then as you said, I doubt the Crivatean League would refuse an offer of alliance. Staying in the side-lines instead would mean waiting until we face a single, powerful Alliance we would have no way of opposing, which is not ideal.
I was hoping to convince them to join us beforehand so that we would be able to crush Morlan before the Imperial Covenant pulls anything.
If they try something anyway... then I suppose it was destiny. 4v3 is still pretty good odds.

I also don't really see the problem with late-game 1v1 wars. They are no more boring than early game 1v1 wars, like the one Severian has been fighting, and probably much less boring than that, since they're supposed to be the culmination of your preparation and strategy..

To Severian, Callous Coast, FCC
The previous spoiler chain has gotten a little confusing, so I thought I'd start a new one.
It seems that the Imperial Covenant has decided to take the Crivatean League out first, as we are the weakest. It is likely they will soon ally with Morlan to help him conquer Severian while the Elden Knights attack me after establishing that beachhead. The outcome of this war is certain. We cannot defeat them by ourselves. And after we are conquered, the Sea Consolidation will certainly be their next target. The Callous Coast expressed similar fears in the past, and it was probably naive of me to not fully share them at the time.

As such, I propose that we four enter into a secret pact against them. We will maintain our separate alliances for now and keep gathering strength. If they declare war on any one of us or join the existing war on Morlan's side, we will immediately merge our two alliances and fight them together. If by some miracle they don't declare war first, then we will attack when the time is right for a pre-emptive strike, probably after Morlan has been eliminated and most of the free space is gone. Either way, they have to be eliminated. They are too strong, too aggressive and too unreasonable to be allowed to grow unchecked.

What do you say?
>>
>>5233842
To Ice Demons, Severian Towers & FCC:
I am in complete agreement, and the pact has my backing.
It is unfortunate that it had to come to this, but there is clearly too much ambition running wild in the hearts of other nations. If we wish for peace to prevail, we must inevitable unite, and put our foot down.
If the other two Nations voice their assent, then the Pact will be officially put into place.
In the meantime, it occurs to me that I have no trade agreement with the Severian Towers. Would they care to change that?

To Ice Demons, Severian Towers:
My ally, The Free Cities Conglomerate has asked me to relay a message in their stead, to throw off other nation's information gathering. They wish to inform the Crivatean League that they agree to their proposition.
On that note, I will send a spoiler to Morlan, informing them that we reject their alliance offer, as we wish to remain neutral in the conflicts of other nations. Perhaps that will throw others off further. If you have concerns, please voice them.

Chu remains a mystery for you as well? That is a shame, but I thank you for indulging my curiosity.
Meanwhile, we regret to inform you that I have discussed the prospect of alliance with my ally, and they wish to remain neutral and not risk entering the wars of other nations. As such, I must reject your kind offer. Though if you have any other requests, please do not be afraid to voice them.

The newest Head of the Coalition had barely began overseeing their first meeting when a member of the Coalition walked up to the podium and unceremoniously shanked them in the liver. Before the stunned assembly, the perpetrator had this to say:
"Oh come on, nobody here liked this cunt. Raise your hand if you actually like them."
Seeing as how nobody raised their hand, the Coalition begrudgingly decided to pretend that this never happened and that Head died of natural causes.

To: Ice Demons & Severian Towers:
My ally points out that we have 3 NS maxed between us 4. They ask if anyone has any plans? Personally, I'm torn between using Coup d'état on Morlan and using Sea Gateway to sail to the Goat Union Island. Though Steal is also an option, both members of the Imperial Covenant have 500 gold. Insurrection would mean you could strip someone of some territory without resorting to war. Ka-Ching! is always good if you want to avoid antagonizing anyone just yet.
>>
>>5234153
Oh! We are neighbours? *looks at map*
...
That's new.
The weather is... fine. Unbearably cold up North, I hope you brought warm clothing.
Also, I don't recommend you swim near the Coast. Dead bodies have a habit of turning up in the water. Don't ask us why, we have no clue.
>>
>>5234138
To Conqstr:
Just wanted to ask for clarification on how the "Coup d'état" National Strategy works. There are like 3 separate equations written for whether it's a success or not and I'm mildly confused. Let's say that I theoretically wanted to try and make Blackrock my puppet, and I had adjacent territory. Does that mean I would have to roll less then 9, (203-23/20) more then 2(their dice roll), and my roll is (roll * 0.954 (log(9))? Am I getting this right?
Also, what is this map's territory modifier? The rules say you need 5 time the mod in territories before getting the option to use hyper national strategies, but I have no clue what the modifier is, or where to find out.

>>
>>5234511
I was hoping you would pick up on my hint here >>5234153 but you went ahead and spent your national strategy. that's ok, because I've got a better and simple idea:
We're going to pop the yellow bubbles so close to their coast. you know what that means, right?
I'm going to wait to see what they all do. And while I'm at it, I'll pick on the little nation to the east. Maybe coerce them into joining us since they keep going against me every game...

>>5234454
Err...Ok? I hope it isn't anything bad. Nice quads.
>>5234459
Yes, that is correct. Its an OP move for a reason.
The territory mod is stated at the beginning of each quest, so 35 is this one via >>5223458. So, if you want a hyper national strategy, you must have more than 175 territories. However, the turn number must be 30 before you are able to spend it on one.
>>
>>5234509
Well, you could always try expanding from the territories I've given you, you know. But yeah, I'll help if needed.

>>
>>5234521
I am not a very smart man and I don't pick up on hints easily. It would've been better to just tell me in spoilers. But attacking those "yellow bubbles" would be a quick and efficient way to disable them. I do notice you have Morlan as a functional puppet.

Introduce me to him, I can get a trade agreement, and I can get a surge of money to I dunno. Maybe access some yellow bubbles when I get 200 gold.
>>
>>5234509

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>>5234444
Coup d'etat is not a bad idea. Territory wise it would be a waste, but otherwise he's gonna stay safely behind the lines and keep supporting his allies, which is THE most annoying exploit of the ruleset in late-game wars, and one I've been harping against for a while now.. Both steal and sailing to their backyard have their merits, either of them would be a good idea.

In any case, it is time. I would recommend attacking this turn, but they both rolled high and their territory bonus will be even higher. I'm attacking the Elden Knights only to stop him from using Slithering Snake on me next turn. It's going to be a problem if Severian has gone inactive, but I doubt we're gonna get a better opportunity than this.

I suggest we immediately and secretly enter into a new alliance with an attack bonus. Attack is better than defense, and a new alliance means that you guys don't have to wait for the bonus to be changed. And with the new combined bonus, you can join the attack next turn.

What's your relationship with Blackrock? Can we get him to support us?

What do you make of the Elden Knight's offer? I believe it would be ill advised to accept, since the Imperial Covenant would be the dominant partner of the proposed alliance. As it stands, us two are the strongest in the United Leagues, and are poised to remain as such. Much preferable, no?
Besides, the Crivatean League has been much more friendly in the past. What do you think?
>>
>>5234655
>The rules were recently changed to avoid a landlocked OPM handing out support like candy with no danger.
The only rules were changed was the alliance feature and how that works in relation with support. I was wanting to change the support mechanic where supporting was based on the territory mod. so like so:
No support if you don't have 35 territories or more.
+1 support if you have 35 or more territories
+2 support if you have 70 or more territories
+3 support if you have 105 or more territories
And support still ties in with rolling. I keep forgetting to add it and now its added.

I'm sorry, I misread your intent. We have plenty of trade to offer your small and influential nation in the heartland of the south, a garantee to your sovereign and independency of internal and external diplomatic decisions and safety, In exchange we ask that you no longer remain netrual and band together with us.
Should you decline this amicable invite, the sour relations between our nations and our armies would certainly not go unnoticed by you.

11. Create a military base that increases attack and defense strength by 1 for both the whole nation and the territory it is placed on. Takes effect on the next map, and must be placed on your territory (one military base per territory). If the military base is not under your control, others can use it. It can be destroyed which will give 200 gold. Costs 1,000 gold. Effects are not stackable.
>For the oncoming conflicts we must grow stronger than ever. Build a military base in a sea crossing in Freizimmer.

To United League:
I can confirm that they attempted to lure us over, but such a transparent scheme obviously fell on deaf ears. All of you may count on us to assist you where needed. For now, I would propose that all members of the alliance try to reach the borders of the Imperial Covenant, so as to stretch their resources thin trying to cover multiple fronts (we all get debuffs for each hostile neighbour, if they each touched every one of us, that's -8 when they try to attack) Once that is achieved, they will eventually crumble. We control more territory than them, we can harness our National Strength faster than them, and expand farther than them. It is only a matter of time.

To United League:
HIGH PRIORITY MESSAGE, READ AT ALL COSTS
In case it wasn't obvious, I would like to direct everyone's attention to the Imperial Covenant's newest ploy, which would be decapitation tactics.
The Elden Knights recently used "Bilateral Rally", giving the Central powers a National Strategy to use. Combining that with the Sea Gates they opened towards the Ice Demons & FCC's capitals, it is likely they aim to use "Critical Strike" the next turn, (or something similar) giving them enough strength to capture the capitals.
Losing the capitals would mean they could destroy them, giving us -4 defense & attack for 2 maps. Not ideal, obviously.
While this ploy is clever, we must not allow it to reach fruition. Either use a National Strategy to boost your own defence, or pay gold to purchase fortifications on your capital. I would suggest relocating it, but that takes 2 maps and we do not have that luxury.
Stay sharp, lest you find a dagger in your back.

IMPERIAL BATTLE REPORT NO. IV; TO: CENTRAL POWERS
===========================
A couple of points:
1.We should aim for FCC's alliance capitol asap as that one's wide open. We need to break them there if we want to fight both of them on an even fight. I'll use my gold to buff my attack. Continuously build a sea gateway to there (or transfer a territory with the sea gateway to me).
2.It also might be a good idea to switch our alliance bonus to +1 attack.
3.I will still try to coerce blackrock into fighting with us.
4. Give Morlan a territory near Severian so they can help give the whole alliance an enemy neighbor penalty.

Time is not on our side. FOR VICTORY!

===========================
END OF IMPERIAL BATTLE REPORT NO. IV
===========================
>>
To United League:
See? Predictable.
Funnily enough, their ploy is already failing.
Since attacking is:
>dice roll + territory mod - (# of bordering enemy neighbors - 1)*2 +/- any other modifiers
The Central Power's score is 5+19-6(8 if they neighbout ice demons too)+10 which gives us 28(or 26)
The Ice Demons have 9+22-2, which is 29.
FCC, you have ?+22-2+1, meaning you either need to roll above 7 (or 5), or you can activate Big Shield and not take any risks.

Did I do my calculations above correctly? I'm not entirely sure I have a solid grasp on the mechanics I just want to confirm
>>
>>5235867
1.) YES. 2.) ACCEPTED. 3. UNDERSTOOD. 4.) WILL DO. YOU BETTER SUPPORT MY ATTACK SINCE I'M DEALING WITH A -8 DROP. ALSO I NEED ALL OF YOUR GOLD TO BUY +2 EXTRA ATTACK.

>>5235843
ADDING ON TO TRANSFER THE NORTH TERRITORY BORDERING SEVERIAN'S FORTIFIED TERRITORY TO MORLA HAVE FUN.
>>
>>5235869
To United League:
Also, FCC has forts in their capital, so defending instead of attacking will make the roll required to stall 3 (or 1, if Central powers neighbour Ice Demons as well)
Not quite the spectacle they were hoping for I'm sure.
>>
>>5235870
>>5235869
I think there is some confusion when it comes to the enemy neighbor penalty. Since there are two big alliances fighting each other, there is NO enemy neighbor penalty at this time as per rule #7 of alliances:
>7. An alliance is similar to that of one nation. Only Enemy neighbor penalties apply accordingly.

>>
>>5235869
To United League:
New calculations are in, turns out the previous calculator was a dumbass. They have been "fired", don't worry about it.
Central powers: 33
Ice Demons: 32
FCC: dice+25(on defence)
FCC will be fine if they defend and use Big Shield or roll an 8 or higher.
Ice Demons... I'm afraid we may have to suffer that defeat for now.
Although, there is one strategy that could still save both of you, if the gods are willing.
If the FCC rolls a 1 or a 2, they could use "Trickster" to swap their dice to the Central Powers, which would mean that neither of you would lose their capital.
We will see if luck is on our side.
>>
>>5235893
The Central Powers is lead by a council of seven to eight men, who's names have been dropped here or there, who spend their time keeping their citizens prepared for wars via playing traditional games of roughhousing. Their goal, and the people's goal, is to make the best of the limited time they have on earth and to make sure that there are no weak men in their nation.

We value community, strength, and a light form of "might makes right". Our ideals consist of mostly keeping unnecessary conflicts and enemies at a minimum and making what conflicts we deem necessary short, clean, and as painless as possible.

We have finally gained a fragment of this power of yours. What exactly can one Chu do? And how much more powerful will the effect be with more than one?

>>5235844
To United League
That is indeed their ploy. Our Tower is safe, we expanded first and rolled high. By my count the League has a 23 total modifier the Central Powers' combined total of 22, WITH the Critical Strike they just activated. A roll of 4 is enough to stalemate them, though that will not be the case for long if the Elden Knights expand to reach the borders of the FCC.

>>5235876
Wait, what? That is not how I had read that rule, I thought this meant that if you border one member of an alliance it counts as if you're bordering everyone and all alliance members get the same penalty. I also think enemy neighbour penalties were calculated for each member of an alliance in space edition, after that was implemented. This is easily exploitable in a similar way as support used to be, by having us all give all our territories to two people, leaving only these two in the alliance for the attack bonus, and having everyone else drop out and be given one single territory bordering the enemy for the penalty.

>>5235894
It makes little difference with a roll that low, but you should specify defending on forts, as I did in previous turns. Otherwise it's implied you attack from them and the defense bonus is wasted. Also, support cannot be given with members of the same alliance.

>>5235903
You calculated the battle exactly as I did. I expanded first though, so worst case scenario is that I lose a single irrelevant coastal territory. Severian and FCC are in more trouble though. Trickster would be enough, but it's that OR big shield, and the choice has to be made before the roll is known, as trickster can be activated later but attack, defend and fortify NSs have to be at the same time as the roll.
>>
>>5235930
>if you border one member of an alliance it counts as if you're bordering everyone and all alliance members get the same penalty.
No, in this war between Imperial Covenant and The United League, there isn't any enemy neighbor penalties applied to either side. That's what that rule means. Otherwise, it wouldn't be possible for the Imperial Covenant to attack the United League successfully. And no, I don't recall doing this calculation in space edition.

>This is easily exploitable in a similar way as support used to be, by having us all give all our territories to two people, leaving only these two in the alliance for the attack bonus, and having everyone else drop out and be given one single territory bordering the enemy for the penalty.
Then that means there's a huge risk of losing all the territories that those two have earned, and one step closer on losing the game should the other two members keep those territories for themselves after the war.
Nonetheless, I'll ban such action as I do agree with you. Abusing little nations like that doesn't align with what I wanted to change in alliances and what we discussed via >>5204781, and it was a small "Oh, I remember doing X in Europe Edition #1, so I'll do it for this game too!" tick.

Thank you for pointing that out.
>>
>>5235870
Change of plans: giving territory to Morlan doesn't work due to narcissism
>>
>>5235973
>And no, I don't recall doing this calculation in space edition.
Perhaps I remember wrong then. I'll take your word for it and not go looking for combat calculations turn-by-turn for something like that.
>Then that means there's a huge risk of losing all the territories that those two have earned, and one step closer on losing the game should the other two members keep those territories for themselves after the war.
That has always been the case with late-game wars consolidating into a single member, and yet the tactic wasn't stopped until the rules changed. It doesn't really matter though because
>Nonetheless, I'll ban such action as I do agree with you.
thanks, that fixes that.

>Build markets on/near the capital

To Severian:
Are you not seeing my offers for trade or are you just ignoring me?
>>
>>5236605
Trade agreement offer from the Callous Coast accepted.
>>5236606
Sorry it took so long, I should be more active these couple of days.
>>
Rolled 6 (1d10)

>>5236408
Expanding North, while still keeping an empty buffer area with the Demons
Since no one since to do anything about my expansion, I'll gladly keep doing it.
>>
>>5236620
No man, it's not a problem. Sorry for being pushy if anything. It's just that I offered around 3-4 times and was starting to get confused.
>>
>>5236408
Expand south on the eastern continent.
GIVE ALL MY GOLD TO CENTRAL POWERS
Give Morlan territories adjacent to Blackrock and territories around it
I'm guessing that's a no to sudden death.
>>5236483
no u attack blackrock and use bilateral rally on the central powers to get super boosta
>>5235725
No, I didn't forget to move your forts forward.
>>5236589
Any purchases that take effect on the next map, steal happens before. If the purchase says immediate, then it happens after. They must have the gold before the next map begins or the gold purchase effects won't happen. And Chu cannot be stolen.

>>5236624
lol you'll fit right in this quest just fine.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d10)

>>5236750
Me? Forget my dice?
>impossible
>>
>>5236483
or you can use steal on blackrock and give the money to central powers
>>
>>5236006
To Ice Demons:
Looking at the rules and Conqstr's reply to my question (feel free to read it in case there is doubt), neither purchasing attack or a sea gate is "immediate", so you could consider using "steal" on central powers to stop them from buying stuff. Just a suggestion of course.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d10)

>>5236408
Attack the Central Powers
Expand adjacent to Illyria to block their path.
Fortify the single territory that the Central Powers' sea gateway ends in
Build markets on the coast north of the already existing market.
Steal 500 gold from Central Powers before they get a chance to spend it.

>>5236589
>>5236750
That's a good idea. Shame Chu cannot be stolen

To the United League:
Would anyone object if I took the Illyrians out at the next good opportunity? If I declare war we're gonna get a neighbour penalty until they're eliminated, since they're not part of the enemy alliance.

To Severian:
Can we ask to begin repayment of the loan we had given you at the beginning of the war with Morlan? 200 gold should be enough to buy a military base.

For Ingmaster's eyes only:
How did the Central Powers gain one Chu? What action of theirs was rewarded with this power?

I have taken my decision. I will align myself with the Imperial Covenant.

add to my orders:
Attack Illyria

>>5236776
This simplifies things. You will make for excellent decorations.
>>
>>5236772
I used 300 gold for +1 attack, but I will send you 100 gold next turn.
>>
>>5236784
Oh, right. I speedread through your orders.

To the United League
Can we ask for a loan of 100 gold, to be repaid at the first opportunity? We aim to build a military base, it's better sooner rather than later.
>>
>>5236408
>>5236624
Add to orders. Defend territories attacked by Ice Demons.
Elden Knights, Central Powers, I propose trade deals... and require assistance.
>>
>>5236408
No more changes at this point as I'm making the map rn.

Shouldn't the Central Powers have lost their territory next to the Severian Capital?
>>
>>5236821
No
>>5236605
>Defend on Țara Severiană.
They were specific, so they didn't attack there.
>>
>>5236822
Severians said to "Attack the Central Power." >>5236605
I assume that should cover Țara Severiană as well.
Did they lose there or something?

Nevermind, I cannot fucking read to save my life.
Please ignore me as I go stare at the wall.

To United League:
We have little to give, unfortunately. Still, we shall send 50 gold to the Ice Demons, a small part of what you need. Perhaps the others will send the rest?
>>
>>5236772
to Ice Demons & Conqstr:
-7. An alliance is similar to that of one nation. Only Enemy neighbor penalties apply accordingly.
I assumed this means that neighbour penalties only applied if you were next to them, in this case only Ice Demons would take a debuff from the Illyrians. Is this wrong?

Either way, go ahead. They give us little choice at the moment.
>>
>>5236832
To United Leage
You have our thanks. With 100 from Severian as well, we need only 50 more gold for that base.

>>5236836
Oh, right. He's only at war with me, not the entire alliance. So unless you join the war, you shouldn't get the debuff. No reason for you to join the war, if this is correct now.
>>
Rolled 10 (1d10)

>>5236813
Defend territories attacked by Ice Demons. From all territories not attacked, expand. Should I roll separately for both?
Also, Imperial Covenant, do you accept me joining you?
>>
>>5236838
>>5236836
The Ice Demons are right. The Ice Demons will be the only ones that will get the enemy neighbor penalty unless the rest of the alliance joins the war.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d10)

The newest Head of the Coalition though that it would be a great idea if they were to lead Coalition troops from the front, outfitted in the distinct garments of a high commanding officer.
They predictably perished as a result.
...from a bolt to the back.

>Expand North on the Western Island
>Attack the Imperial Covenant wherever we border them.
>Build markets North the capital
>Move a fort to the crossing to the Central Powers from the Callous Coast.

>>5236844
Thank you, I get it now.
>>
>>5236841
>Should I roll separately for both?
No, one roll does all actions for you. Also, your national strength is maxed out, so you may choose a national strategy from the rules. If you need any help, lmk.
>>
>>5236863
As a one-time piece of advice to the new guy, what national strategy would be best in my current situation?
>>
>>5236875
Since you're new here, I'll let you use an attack or defense national strategy just this once for the current map. Only those types of national strategies should be used when you roll.

As for your situation, you're not going to be able to attack or defend yourself successfully unless you joined the imperial covenant. This is because the United league has a higher attack/defense strength than you, so they would have the decisive victory. Even if you use a national strategy like "Critical Hit" or "Big Defense", that's not going to work. Here are my recommendations:
1. You could wait and join the imperial covenant, and strategize with The Central Powers and The Elden Knights so you can use a specific national strategy when its time. You have until map #25 to use it or your national strength will reset.
2. You could use your national strategy now. I recommend Daunt if you do.

Daunt: Since all of the United League used their national strategies, you could reduce their national strength increment to buy the Imperial Covenant more time to use a national strategy of theirs. This will also get you involved in the great war, and thus, giving the whole alliance a -2 attack and -1 defense penalty for you being an enemy neighbor.

>>
>>5236891
Okay, so I get a single free strategy for this map? If that's the case, I use Big Shield.

Elden Knights, Central Powers, do you accept my membership?
>>
>>5236899
Oh oops. No, that's not what I meant. You will expend your national strategy if you use big shield. Are you sure that's what you want? You're not going to be able to defend successfully regardless if you use big shield.
