How to play: https://pastebin.com/ehJnx9SL (or the how-to-play gif below)

The dice you put in the "options" box is:

>What is /conqst/?
/conqst/ is a 4Chan story-telling, strategy game that is just like Risk but allows you to have more freedom in defining your civilization. Build your nation on the path that you choose, be it war, economical, benevolence or just plain chaotic. You tell the story of how your nation thrives in this ever-changing world.

>Can I join?
If there's any territory shaded in white, yes. If there isn't any, some players may be nice enough to give you land or allocate a puppet state. If not, then you could wait until the next game (or when I kick out inactive players).

>How hard is it to learn how to play this game?
It's better for you to learn as you go, but its not difficult to play. You start with 5 territories as one nation, expand until you can't expand, and choose to attack, fortify, and/or defend. Plain and simple. You also get +1 attack and +1 defense for every certain amount of territories you own, and gain National Strength (NS) and gold every roll.

Settings:
Continent bonuses: Off
Attack/Defense +1: every 35 territories
Event mode: default
Ancient Ruins: On

You can name continents, islands, or regions only if you control the most territories for each of them. They can be renamed by other players if they have more territories for them than you.
I did not make this map. Credit is shown in the image.

I can't help but feel outraged at your egregious aggressive colonization of *my* homeland.
You will be kind enough to surrender those territories to the League and keep out of our corner of the seas. We'll let you keep the one province with the two sea gates in exchange so your colonies in the northern continent won't be completely isolated. We'll even throw in a trade agreement if you're willing.
Surely, you will recognize you have nothing substantial to lose from such an advantageous deal? After all, we're between civilized nations here, aren't we?

Inside, there seems to be a well full of...Well, whatever it is, one of your explorers thinks it has a good taste to it. So, you utilize the well as a food source, and begin to sell it on three specialized markets across your nation. Seems like a commercial success to me.
Three markets have been built inside your nation, granting +1 gold each per turn.

Hello, Totally Regular Humans. Want a Trade Deal?

>>5242623
Gravy King, we are now good friends. How about a closer collaboration?
What do you think is best, an alliance or a trade league? I fear that Totally Imperial may eventually turn its eyes on me for conquest once they run out of free space to expand upon; it's not my intention to drag you into any unnecessary war, but I want a reliable ally just in case. A trade league would allow amassing gold for fortification building. Still, the -4 malus on combat strength may screw us over. Hell, it's also an option to join them outright to cut the problem before it arises, but I'd ideally keep my independance. What's your opinion?

I wish to expand to the east peninsula, but only after taking a foothold on a single territory of each of my seaways to the North

(Not entirely sure how building or national strategy work so I'm just kind of just writing shit, if this needs to be reworked please tell me.)

Activate National Strength: Expansionist

We shall expand into the highlighted regions first before moving into the north east.

The Establishment of three markets in our nation is pivotal to our continued growth.

The First is the Scholar's Bazaar, a great thoroughfare leading from the Scroll keeps great hall down to the docks along the Papyrus river.
The second is the Oasis Bazaar in which the various desert tribes congregate and trade the exotic goods of the Desert.
The Third is a fledgling outpost near out northern border to facilitate trade with the Alkeneros people.
>>5242582
We would like to make an official trade agreement with your people so that we both benefit of our growing economies.

Artifact Use: Establishing contact
Once thoroughly researched the artifact is activated, the voice of the Lord Archivist resonates throughout the Scroll keep as his words are projected a continent away. There it is heard by the people of the Cobalt Legionaries. (>>5242688) [Establishing first contact]

This contact is shared with our brothers of Grandia who joined us in this endeavor.

>>5242751
We are glad to hear from our new neighbors, we will soon be establishing a outpost along the Vellum river in hopes that our people can establish prosperous relations.

As long as you contacted the nation from a national strategy (Scouting Party), paying gold (scouting yet again), bordering them or being introduced by another nation? There's no real distance limit last I checked.

From my ruleset:
Secret Communication
Since this game is on 4Chan, any secret communication is written with the spoilers tag. There is no penalty if the spoilers were read by unintended recipients, but for the best possible experience, avoid reading spoilers not intended for you!
Here are the few rules about Secret Communication and how that plays with everything else:
1. Only Conqstr can read any spoilers.
2. Secret trades and agreements can happen. You need to explicitly let Conqstr know in spoilers that this is the trade (i.e TO CONQSTR: message here ). Any agreements will be listed in the main post under "SECRET AGREEMENT". Gold purchases are allowed in spoilers. Giving away territory is allowed in spoilers.
3. Everything else not mentioned here should not be in spoilers, such as National strategies, attacking, defending, fortifying, or expanding.

>>5244073
Ahoy ye landlubbers. We're peaceful traders from the north, and we're currently under attack from a foreign legion who simply stated we stand in their way to conquest. If we fall, ye'll be next. How'd ye like to trade and sign an alliance with an attack bonus? We need to stand together or fall apart.

Keep attacking the Reavers on all fronts while focusing on the lands surrounding the military base.
Protect the capitol by expanding everywhere around it.

Bulid a military base where the capitol is.

TO CONQSTR: Got it, thanks

>>5243896
Should i wait for a while before giving you the territories? I don't think it would be good for you to get on two war fronts now that the Gravy League exist

To Conqstr
Am I supposed to do anything about the rat, or the event unfolds by itself without needing action?
Also, how can the Gravy lads help me in the war if they have no border with the enemy?

I attack the Inperio.
I buy fortifications on the sea gates.
>>
>>5244108
Let the rat go and do its own thing. I think you'll love the surprise when its gets bigger.
The Gravy men already are by sharing their territory mod strength with you.

Op, I'm not sure if this you made a mistake or if I still haven't understood how the combat works. From what I've seen that province in the sea gate attacked twice in one turn, so, from my knowledge the League should have gotten one tile less.
>>
>>5244050
TO CONQSTR:I need to know something before a proceed with strategies, since the nation collapse is the last thing to happen, when the Reavers attack Bulgars, will he get -2 on attack/defense for this turn because he'll have 2 bordering enemy nations?
>>
>>5244122
Oh true.
>>
>>5244122
>>5244125
Nope, I'm right.
>Attacking: Attacking is simple. If you decide to attack broadly (i.e "attack this nation"), then all territories adjacent to the nation will attack them. One territory will attack every adjacent enemy territory.
>>5243743
>I then attack the Inperio, focusing on taking the western and northern fronts.

>>5244123
>War officially begins when one player attacks another player.
Yes, they will get a penalty for that.
>>
>>5244126
Thank you for the clarification, dude.

>>5244081
>>5244126
So I attack as much as I can, nevermind the arrows.

i would like to use the national strategy "expansionist" and continue to expand to the north, if possible :)

>>5244086
i think that your suggestion that we form a trade league is a wonderful idea! as long as the scroll keepers are also on board with this, the nation of grandia would gladly establish a trading league with the setting sun sovereignty and the scroll keepers.
>>
>>5244092
That sounds reasonable. A war brewing on our doorstep is no good. We accept. May we all keep our sovereignty.
>>
>>5244204
Wonderful! We'll break open the good rum to celebrate!

Conqstr, put my actual capital north, away from both coast and enemies.

Fer my new angular ally
Ye should attack them this turn too, even before the alliance is official. With their low roll and the multiple enemies penalty, it's a prime opportunity fer plunder.
>>
>>5244208
How do I do that? I'm still not very clear on it.

Attack the Cobalt Legionaries. The Pyramid Knights shall wage a holy war against them.

Placing the alliance capitol in the triangular land.

just roll the dice, how you've been doing in previous turns, but instead of expanding, write what you want to do. The possible actions are Attack, Defend, Build forts or markets or both, Expand, Move structures. And you can and should do more than one when you're at war, since there's no penalty to combat. Only expansion gets penalized by multiple actions.

>>5244213
Yep, that's how you do it. You can also build forts or markets in territories not involved in combat and there's no reason not to do that as well.
>>
>>5244217
Ah, okay. So I can do multiple things? I just say 'I wanna build forts'? I'm also not clear on how attack/defense is calculated.
>>
>>5244220
Yes. One territory gets one action. So feel free to add forts behind the frontlines or build markets deep inside your territory.
Also, the attack/defense calculations are found in the ruleset under their respective concepts. The basic calculation looks something like:
dice + territory mod - enemy neighbor + alliance territory mod from other partners +- any other modifiers.
Enemy neighbor penalties are different for attack and defense, so watch out for that!
>>
>>5244220
You also need to specify the location of these forts, unless you want the qm to place them for you. With your roll, you can place 3 different +3 forts, which is the maximum for strength for a territory.

Combat is calculated as Dice+Bonuses-Penalties, higher number wins. For you it's
7 dice + 0 territory (unfortunate that you got boxed in so early, but we can fix that)
so you have a total of 7
For me it's
8 dice + 2 territory - 2 for attacking multiple opponents (I'm fighting both the Legionaries and the Bulgars this turn, it's a -2 for every enemy beyond the first and -1 for defending)
for a total of 8
and for our enemy it's
2 dice + 5 territory (territory bonuses get added together for alliance members, this will happen for us next turn, when the alliance takes effect) +1 military base (the one he stole from me) + 1 alliance attack bonus (he would not get this if he chose to defend), -4 multiple enemies (his alliance is fighting me, you and that other alliance they attacked. This will be reduced to -2 next turn when our alliance is official and they go from fighting three separate enemies to two.)
for a total of 5, 6 in the territory with the base.
So unless I made a mistake somewhere or something changes later, the both of us should win combat this turn and conquer border territories

>>5244236
Conqstr please double check my above calculations, I don't mind being wrong but I wouldn't want to lead a newbie astray.
>>
>>5244073
No we rather not give our land for some just some amount of gold we rather have an trade agreement is better for the both us in the future
>>
>>5244050
TO CONQSTR: Could you clarify how the support works?
If my allies who don't have adjacent borders with the enemy I'm attacking supported me, would they suffer any disadvantages in other actions?
In fact, is it possible for them to support it along with other actions?
>>
>>5244239
Ah, I see. Thank you!

I'd like to place some forts too, QM. Could you pick for me?

>>5244240
A trade agreement? That sounds fine, we accept! We'd also not be averse to 1:1 trades of territories, in order to get those isolated triangular portions. The West Federation's borders seem to have a bounty of those.
